Report: Donovan McNabb was arrested for DUI, spent one day in jail

Getty Images

Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb was arrested for driving under the influence in January, agreed to a plea deal and has already served his sentence of one day in jail, according to TMZ.

Although the arrest is months old, it went unreported until McNabb’s mug shot was released today.

There are still no details about exactly what McNabb’s plea was, and no explanation about why the arrest took so long to become public.

McNabb did not address the matter on his NBC Sports Radio show today.

The worst thing to ever happen to the Vikings, TV, and radio.

  3. jam11163 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:06 PM

Well. At least he didn’t murder someone, or rape someone, or do ped’s, or do drugs,or win a Super Bowl . Smh…

  4. kerrchris65 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:09 PM

Donovan must have been experiencing “cardiovascular endurance” problems. I wonder if he puked on the side of the road.

Isn’t it bad enough that he has to go through the humiliation of a DUI arrest? Do you really need to post a picture of him in a Vikings uniform, too?

  8. doctorrustbelt says: Apr 17, 2014 5:11 PM

    So… this happened in January?!?

It’s nice when the local authorities ATTEMPT to sweep it under the rug for you.

    Typical viking.

  10. PeterKingLovesCoqAVin says: Apr 17, 2014 5:12 PM

If I sucked as much as Donovan McNabb, I would spend most of my time under the influence too.

  11. whatjusthapped says: Apr 17, 2014 5:12 PM

It seems appropriate that the picture used for this story is McNabb in a Viking uniform. After all, McNabb was unproductive, he got himself arrested, and he is always shooting off his mouth, common attributes among Viking players.

    Stupid Eagles!

  16. chinahand11 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:16 PM

In the mug shot he has some sort of crap on his chin. Vomit? Pizza? Boogers?

  25. thepftpoet says: Apr 17, 2014 5:26 PM

Queue the Packers fans trying to use this as a diss against the Vikings, even though he hasn’t played in the NFL in 2 years and was on the Vikings for 8 games.

    Thy name is Vikings.

  27. nyctraffic says: Apr 17, 2014 5:28 PM

So the guy went for a couple beers and nachos with a friend and drove home tipsy, and he has to get it broadcast to the world? He paid his penance, so why not have some class and let it be?

  29. eagles512 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:30 PM

Shouldn’t drive drunk but I love how people recuse history. Guy gave the eagles more winning in 10 years than the previous 40, usually with no weapons. But now he sucked? Learn the game.

“All they money in the world, and they can’t figure out how to call a cab?”

Perhaps you haven’t driven the kind of car that all the money in the world can buy.

And that mug shot… Doesn’t he look kinda like he just farted in a crowd of people?

  36. mwatts1 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:37 PM

Arizona has the toughest DUI laws in the country. Blow anything over a .08 and you will have to spend one day in jail and have a breathalyzer installed in your car. If it’s over a .15, you’re looking at 30 days in prison. Don’t drink and drive in AZ!

  37. thefiesty1 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:40 PM

Only one day in jail? An neighbor got a DUI and it cost him over $20K, breathalyzer to start his car (a couple of years ago) still. And 2 years probation. At least he didn’t have to stay overnight in jail. That’s cruel!

  38. eaglefan94 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:43 PM

Hopefully this isn’t a sign of an upcoming meltdown.

  39. courtjester1234 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:45 PM

So wait… He gets a DUI and he has to stay in jail 1 day? If that happened to one of us “plain” folks, our live would be pretty messed up financially and who knows hard it could get with family, friends, work place and neighbors.

  40. steves11 says: Apr 17, 2014 5:46 PM

This story must have been put out there by the Eagles to deflect attention away from their stupidity in the DeSean Jackson matter.

  53. cheezwhiz1 says: Apr 17, 2014 6:09 PM

This is all Bill Belichick’s fault. He’s evil. Spygate ruined McNabb forever. He was a top 3 QB before that. Better than Manning and Brady (who’s a cheater too).

Patriots = Root of All NFL Evil.

I love the PFT Forum. People are so smart.

  54. imbetteratlifethanyou says: Apr 17, 2014 6:10 PM

The judge should sentence him to play 8 more games with the vikings. He’d probably fall on the ground, yelling “noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!”

  60. skins1970 says: Apr 17, 2014 6:33 PM

    Here’s my take ….So what!

  62. clssylssy says: Apr 17, 2014 6:44 PM

In Maricopa County, Arizona one glass of wine will put an average size person over the limit which means if you come to the Superbowl or Probowl BEWARE! Sheriff Joe will arrest anybody and everybody and it doesn’t matter who you are etc. Donovan McNabb isn’t the first high profile sports figure to spend a night in jail at least he didn’t tell the cops he was on his way to pick up a hooker…LOL! Sheriff Joe has made his name and claim to fame off his “zero tolerence” which makes a person wonder why the NFL would want to host a Superbowl or Probowl in such a “dry” venue…and I’m not referring to the desert!

  63. glac1 says: Apr 17, 2014 6:48 PM

    Really?? … who cares.

  64. orivar says: Apr 17, 2014 6:56 PM

Poor McNabb, that Vikings season was awful. At his age running away from four guys in the backfield immediately on the snap is a sign to just retire.

  65. grimreaper12 says: Apr 17, 2014 6:57 PM

Fox Sports 1 is horrible. Charissa Thompson should leave that network.

  66. filthymcnasty1 says: Apr 17, 2014 6:59 PM

Did you notice that he looked more alert in his mug shot than he does in his Viking uniform?

  80. skins1970 says: Apr 17, 2014 9:00 PM

TO and Mike Shanahan are to blame for this because as we know Donnie McNugget never does anything wrong. Just ask Michael Wilbon he will agree McNabb is a saint.

  81. doggeatdogg says: Apr 17, 2014 9:51 PM

Has he officially retired from the NFL. He has a lot of angry and career closure issues and especially heading out of the NFL not on his terms. He needs help.

McNab is and always was a class act. If he has now made a mistake, he will be a class act in his dealing with it. He deserves respect for what he did for the Eagles.
