Patriots, Browns, Steelers and Jets reportedly showing interest in Andre Williams

Running backs might not be a first round staple anymore, but teams are still going to be selecting the top collegiate runners from 2013 at some point over the three day draft process.

One that should be off the board near the top of the list is Boston College’s Andre Williams. Williams was a Heisman finalist last year after running for 2,177 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns and has drawn good reviews as a pass blocker, but he will need to show he can catch the ball after going the entire 2013 season without catching a pass for B.C.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that four AFC squads are showing particular interest in Williams making that growth as a member of their roster. Wilson names the Patriots, Browns, Steelers and Jets as showing the most interest, although it’s hard to see the Jets spending an early pick on a back after signing Chris Johnson this week.

The same could be said of the Steelers, who signed LeGarrette Blount to create an opening for a back with the Patriots. The Browns signed Ben Tate, but could use Williams or another young runner as a complement to their free agent acquisition.

I would pray that the JETS draft me if I were that kid. He knows all about the impending dynasty.

You really have to imagine that all these clowns like REALNFLMASTER etc that talk in hashtags and are obnoxious as possible are truly the same person with multiple handles. The same dude, with ALOT of time on his hands.

Felt sorry for Andre watching him trying to catch the football at the combine. Strictly a running back.

If the browns take a RB in the 1st 3 rounds ill be disappointed. WR QB CB LB 5 needs

Maybe the Jets are doing due diligence ala the Pats talking to QBs in the interest of pick trade value. Wait, that cannot be it, since that was the most foolish assertion since the truthers said steel cannot be melted by fire. Love the site, and I understand the 24/7 media game, but feel free to own your idiocy. Whoever put their name on that post stamp themselves as the clown at the end of the bar.

I live in Boston but I hate the Patriots. With that said, I think it’d be cool to see the Pats take him since he played at BC. Same with the Celtics & Shabazz Napier, who went to UConn but is from Boston.

Jets dynasty? LOL. Thank you for providing a really good laugh on a Friday afternoon. The Steelers’ draft would be devastating if they take a RB in the first round. Must be a WR or CB, period.

You can have him. I just want B. Sankey.

Last BC RB the Browns took was famous for 1 run….

    Run Willie Run !!!

Gotta love when for a few seasons Rex stopped making predictions, so the pathetic haters with time on their hands add their own stupidity here.

Collecting money from the tax payers must be sweet.

A Steelers fan is talking smack? It’s like Putin hugging a tree.

    Greatest Dynasty in professional football?

One city went to 11 straight Championships and won 7 of them ……

    Guess who …..

I am a die hard Steelers fan. With that in mind, I am obviously not a GM or Coach, But I can’t believe that the Steelers could possibly even think about drafting Andre Williams. They have Le’Veon Bell, who I think is a stud RB. Signed Lagarette Blunt who still has tread left.

I think the Steelers Draft needs are in this order:

    1. CB
    2. NT
    3. TE
    4. WR

To think that after Emmanual Sanders left so did the ‘core’ of the Steelers recievers is flat out false. Sanders wasn’t the 2nd best WR last year, Cotchery was. And I think signing L. Moore and DHB were great moves. But let us not forget Marcus Wheaton. This kid is still here for a reason and with another year under his belt I would hope for big things from him.
TE H.Miller is great at everything but cannot be relied on to play 16+ games. He’s getting older and needs someone to learn from this cat.

If the Browns can get a top-tier running back (Shankey or Hyde) at the top of the second round, they take him. A decent RB that can catch out of the flats, serves as a safety valve. Besides, we still don’t know if Tate can last as the #1 RB for a full season.

Huh? Which Jets team have you been watching the last 3 years?

Mediocrity and the Jets are pretty much synonymous!

How is his rendition of Moon River?

  17. bobzilla1001 says: Apr 19, 2014 3:36 PM

Tomlin has a “thing” for “running backs by committee.” He enjoys jerking his backs around, so they don’t get too comfortable with the flow of the game. And when one of them fumbles, which is inevitable, he likes to embarrass them by benching them for several games. He also enjoys alternating them on the waiver wire…

  18. crownofthehelmet says: Apr 20, 2014 8:35 PM

Big deal bobzilla. Dwyer = Redman = serviceable and nothing more.

  19. steelcurtainn says: Apr 20, 2014 8:39 PM

Smokescreen…………Very seriously doubt the steelers are interested in this kid. Now Dri Archer as late round pick would be a good pick up. Of course the steelers have to many other positions they could restock and reload to probably consider this guy.

  20. oldcracker says: Apr 24, 2014 5:44 PM

I believe the Browns and the Steelers are too smart to draft this guy. If he can’t catch coming out of the back, that really limits his appeal. Only the Jets would think like that.
