Evan Mathis scheduled to voluntarily appear today

As most of the league begins (voluntary) offseason workouts today, reporters are calling  roll, starting with the reportedly disgruntled.

So it’s worth noting that when the Eagles show up, guard Evan Mathis will be among them, according to Geoff Mosher of

Mathis was hoping for a new contract this offseason, but instead, got permission to seek a trade.

Since that hasn’t happened, he’ll hang around for his scheduled $5.15 million this season.

And he’s voluntarily appearing now, so he must be at least sufficiently gruntled.

The Vikings would be wise to trade for this stud at guard to replace Charlie Johnson.

We would have easily the best offensive line in the NFL then.

$5.15M seems pretty generous for a guard, not sure how much more he’s thinking he can get.

Mathis handles his business the right way. There’s no harm in asking, but if it doesn’t happen, the best way to make more money in the future is to work your ass off. Not pout and whine. That’s how a real man does it.

The difference is he is showing up to play and is the best guard in the game.

    1. He has 3 years left in a 5 year contract.
    2. He was not effective until he had Jason Peters on one side and Jason Kelse on the other.
    3. The gave him permission to talk to other teams….no one was interested for his services for the money he wants.
