League to announce draft attendees on Tuesday

In the clearest indication yet that the NFL won’t be announcing the 2014 regular-season schedule on Tuesday, the league has announced that it will be announcing something else.

At 7:00 p.m. ET, the NFL will unveil the players who’ll attend the draft at Radio City Music Hall.

Before the league moved the draft to prime time, only a handful of players were asked to attend.  Last year, 23 players initially were announced as attendees; cornerback Darius Slay was added later to make it 24.

Three years ago, a mini-controversy emerged when the NFLPA toyed with the idea of urging rookies to not attend the draft during the lockout.  Eventually, the union endorsed the decision of players to accept the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive a bear hug from the Commissioner and/or to languish in the green room.

Does the NFL offer these players money to attend the draft or pay their expenses?

How many fish did Joe Thomas catch with his pop the year he was drafted? That seems a better time to me, then a bunch of twitter addicted morons talking about themselves ..

Geno Smith probably wishes he didnt go last year. I’d prob stay home and watch it on tv with family & friends.

Does the Packers pick get a handicap seat? With the 21st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select: Soon Hurt, IR, University State Hospital.

24 is way too many. Maybe 10.

So…. the NFL is announcing the draftees attending the draft tomorrow, but not the 2014 schedule until Thursday. Glad Goodell and company have their priorities straight.

Unless I was a lock for a top 10 pick, I wouldn’t show up. If I am a QB this year I stay home. I serious expect 5 QBs taken in the first round. With the 25th pick (i.e. the pick before the Brown’s second pick), QB needy team picks QB1, with the 26th pick the Browns take QB2, then the rest of the QB needy teams panic and start a bidding war for 27 through 29. However, if you are the QB left out of the frenzy and you are in green round, you are going to look like a schmuck. The green room is a non win scenario. Better to go fishing.

Instead of drumrolls and the big buildup, it’s time the league moved the draft around to other cities, instead of the same venue, year in, year out. It should make the rounds to each team’s city.

Who cares who will be attending the draft? This is yet another lame attempt by the NFL to turn nothing into something. Just release the darn schedule, that’s the ONLY thing fans care about right now.

I give the NFL credit. They can make everything an event.

Do we really care who attends the draft?

Oh, they’ll release this info at 7? Let me guess…on NFL Network? Lets all tune in to find out!!!!
