Continuing our draft previews with a look at the Jaguars

Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne AP

The Jaguars were an unmitigated disaster in 2012, so improving to nearly decent in 2013 stands as progress.

But they did things in the second half of the season that made them appear competent, at least on one side of the ball.

But coach Gus Bradley has created some momentum there, and there’s a real sense that the Jaguars could continue to improve if they find the right quarterback. That quarterback is not Chad Henne, but Henne is a perfectly fine backup for whomever it might be.

They can nearly have their pick of the passers in this draft with the third choice, but with 11 total picks and plenty of needs, they can move around and check off a lot of boxes.

You can check out our full preview here, and cast your vote below on what you think their top need is.

The Jags first need to sell tickets and jerseys, so they aren’t sent to London.
Get Manziel, then bring Tebow is as a backup.

Why do people act like Manziel will “sell tickets”? sure, for the first 6 games maybe the first season. Personally, I think winning will sell the most tickets. People act like Manziel is exciting and Bridgewater is boring or something. If Manziel is actually good in the NFL and Bridgewater is bad, Manziel will sell more tickets, and vice versa.

You know who else is really “boring”? Peyton Manning. He has zero mobility, isn’t flashy on the field, and throws the ball within 3 seconds of it being hiked, rarely that being down the field. Yet people love watching him play because he’s good at his job and wins. Weird.

The poll up there is nonsensical for any team except the Texans. The reason is that the answer always has to be: it depends on who’s left!

they have to go QB. sure a pass rusher will help, but it seems that every time they take a pass rusher, he busts. a QB like Manziel could turn them around. he will excite the fans and i think he could open things up. what i would do is see what Houston does. if they pass on Manziel and take Clowney, then i take Manziel as taking him could do two things. 1) help yourself and 2) hurt a team in your division who some in the fanbase wanted.

Winning is everything. In 1996-2000 we were at the top of the league in attendance because we were winning.

Look at 2007? Why? You guessed it…we were winning

I was watching a Steeler game last year and noticed all the yellow in the crowd. Then I saw that they were all empty seats. Why??? They were losing

Winning is what brings people to the game.

    NOTHING ELSE!

The Jags will grab a QB in the 2nd round or trade to get into the last part of the 1st round. Unless Bridgewater goes early in the 1st round, I think we will get him.

I believe the Texans take Manziel @ #1. And, as soon as the NFL DC’s learn Johnny Football’s play, they will stop him and crush him.

Rams either take Watkins, or trade out to either the Raiders or Falcons…and they take Clowney. That still leaves either Mack, Watkins, and 3 QB’s.

Jags sitting fat at this point. I think the Jags should take Bortles @ #3, and DEVELOPE him into the franchise QB you want. Three years from now, he will be the star QB from this draft, even if it takes an extra year to develope.

Browns take QB Carr. (they love this guy)

If the Raiders don’t trade up, they take whoever’s left of Mack, or Watkins.

If the Falcons don’t trade up, they take Watkins or OT Robinson.

    TB takes LB Mosley.

    Mn gets Bridgewater.

Even if the Jags go with Clowney, Mack, or Watkins, there is no way for them to lose. I just would like to see them develope a long-term plan at QB. Then, when the run on QB’s begin, they can fill other holes. O-line? Defense?
