opening the season with 2 underachieving teams? that sounds pretty lame

  2. pfatl says: Apr 23, 2014 5:09 PM

So they decided on a game no one would care about. Always keeping us guessing.

  3. pbolyard says: Apr 23, 2014 5:11 PM

As a lions fan I’m pumped

  4. manderson367 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:12 PM

So according to this, since the Giants and Eagles play in week 17, the Redskins will win the NFC East by beating the Cowboys the last week of the season.

  5. dickshotdogs says: Apr 23, 2014 5:12 PM

Wow. I just looked a little closer and realized The Giants are going to start 0-6. Yikes!

  6. youtubeingravenvids says: Apr 23, 2014 5:13 PM

They have a primetime game just about every 2 weeks!!!

  7. kmurph1226 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:13 PM

G-Men have a nicely placed bye right in the middle of the season before 3 huge games vs. playoff teams

It’s just one of the MNF games, and it’s the earlier one at that. Secondly, I’m not sure it makes sense to judge the game based off last year’s records. The teams have changed (quite dramatically) and the game last year was a close game (albeit a mess). It shouldn’t be a bad game at all, but then again I’m a giants fan, lol.

  10. yuriyg13 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:17 PM

So the Giants will have the maximum 5 primetime games? 5 primetime games for a 7-9 team last year.

  11. adamd1981 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:17 PM

The Giants could easily start off 0-4 or 1-3. They play at Arizona then at Houston and a quick turnaround to play Washington on Thursday night.

Giants looking at another sub 500 start

  13. dtownsportslions says: Apr 23, 2014 5:21 PM

    Lets go DEEETROIT

  14. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Apr 23, 2014 5:21 PM

Greater NY area is a HUGE market. The NFL knows it and plans these schedules based on it.

  15. basexc9 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:22 PM

Dang, already got my St. Louis Rams $100,000 schedule contest messed up

  16. rxv5854 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:24 PM

The road back to ELIte begins in Detroit huh?

  17. Getoffmylawn! says: Apr 23, 2014 5:25 PM

Since they play the Cowboys a week before their bye, doesn’t that count as two bye’s in a row?

  18. gotti11 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:28 PM

Considering every NFC east team gets 5 prime time games every year, no matter how bad they are, this seems like it could be legit.

  19. DonRSD says: Apr 23, 2014 5:29 PM

Beat everyone at work to book my “football days off”.
    Thanks PFT!!!

    MNF starts with a dud.

  21. tonymontana45 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:33 PM

If I remember correctly, a team can only have four nationally televised games a season, that would make five.

Nats and Mets are playing on the 25th. That game will be crucial. Could determine seeding in serious October baseball. Bad scheduling.

Giants and Lions ? Not watching…

  27. mdobrasz says: Apr 23, 2014 5:39 PM

wow, super soft schedule this year

  28. gbfb88 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:40 PM

Are you kidding me? The Lions do not deserve the benefit of hosting a primetime game that can’t be flexed out after the way they ended their season, last year.

  29. lezbehonestppl says: Apr 23, 2014 5:43 PM

    Giants and lions. I’ll pass.

  30. pvaz869 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:47 PM

2nd game is usually Chargers-Raiders. Maybe this year it will be Broncos-Chargers

  31. dontbugmeonsundays says: Apr 23, 2014 5:48 PM

To everyone saying they’re not gonna watch. Yeah right! Even I’m not jumping out of my seat when I read the headlines, but it’s the first dose of action that we’re gonna get after 6 long months. I already need my fix, and it hasn’t even been 3 months yet since the Super Bowl between Seattle and San Fran. O wait….

  32. justintuckrule says: Apr 23, 2014 5:51 PM

Finally….an easy schedule! Anyone decent has to travel to NY. If we have to pick road games, going to Jax, Tenn, Rams and Detroit would have been my choices. The only tough roadie is at Seattle. Since it’s the toughest, I fully expect us to win that one but lose at Jax.

  33. elifan4life says: Apr 23, 2014 5:53 PM

Geez talk about a brutal 7 game stretch

    Sunday, Oct. 5 vs. ATLANTA
    Sunday, Oct. 12 at Philadelphia, 8:30 p.m.
    Sunday, Oct. 19 at Dallas
    Sunday, Oct. 26 BYE
    Monday, Nov. 3 vs. INDIANAPOLIS
    Sunday, Nov. 9 at Seattle
Sunday, Nov. 16 vs. SAN FRANCISCO

  34. hrmlss says: Apr 23, 2014 5:53 PM

Why do opening Monday night games always suck?

  35. waldoampere says: Apr 23, 2014 5:55 PM

This can’t be right. If it is, the Cowboys have to play a road Sunday night game before playing Thanksgiving afternoon.

  36. longsufferingkcfan says: Apr 23, 2014 5:56 PM

People are down on this game, but you heard it here first: these two teams will meet again in the Super Bowl.

  37. cbosa says: Apr 23, 2014 5:56 PM

Why do the Giants always play the Thursday night game on the road?

  38. ramitbaby says: Apr 23, 2014 5:57 PM

    Can we flex this?

  39. darkneptune73 says: Apr 23, 2014 5:58 PM

Oh look, Dallas vs Giants in a prime time game. Shocker.

    Very nice.

  43. cacheesehead1237 says: Apr 23, 2014 6:07 PM

Makes sense to have Lions and Giants on opening MNF. Gotta get ’em while they are both still relevant. Anything after week 4 and neither team will matter this year.

  44. thefootballgodssay says: Apr 23, 2014 6:09 PM

the last 7 games is easy 11-5 nfc east champs

  45. robbieboston says: Apr 23, 2014 6:21 PM

If I was the schedule maker, I would have made it an interesting game by picking good teams.

  46. judsonjr says: Apr 23, 2014 6:31 PM

Makes sense, it could be a record breaking game for INTs.

  47. thetruthcampaign says: Apr 23, 2014 6:37 PM

It was such an amazing game at the end of last season that the my Schwartz-led Lions HAD to win and couldn’t. Maybe the Schwartz-less Lions can do it. Probably.

  48. drfeelyouup says: Apr 23, 2014 6:41 PM

Brown’s would roll either of these teams.🏈

  49. cags777 says: Apr 23, 2014 6:54 PM

I guess I won’t win $100,000 from the Rams. I picked them to host the Giants in Week 13. Oh well.

  51. briscocountyjr says: Apr 23, 2014 7:27 PM

  53. sammyrock215eagles says: Apr 23, 2014 7:44 PM

As an eagles fan I think the lions are ganna be the team to beat in the north cant wait to see them demolish the crappy giants

  54. teek77 says: Apr 23, 2014 7:50 PM

Trying to get them both on TV early in the season before they both have losing records and while Hope still exists among their diehard fans. Good move!

  55. milleniummitch says: Sep 3, 2014 3:57 PM

The league is trying to document Tom Coughlin’s final years and is humiliating Eli in the process…This game could get ugly when the Lions defense rolls and the offense does what it always does….Lions by at least 10
