Reports: 49ers host Bears in first regular season game at Levi’s Stadium

According to multiple reports, the 49ers will play their regular season debut at Levi’s Stadium against an opponent which should be very, very happy to no longer have to set foot in Candlestick Park.

The Bears will play in the first regular season game in the 49ers’ new home on September 14, Harry Teinowitz of 87.7 FM “The Game” in Chicago reported Wednesday. Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area also reported the 49ers would host Chicago in Week Two after playing at Dallas in Week One.

The Bears lost their final six regular season games at Candlestick, and they were also soundly defeated in the 1994 divisional round at San Francisco. Chicago’s final regular season win in Candlestick — a game remembered for William “Refrigerator” Perry’s first turn as a running back — was way back in 1985.

Teinowitz also reports the Bears will host Buffalo on Sunday, September 7 and will have primetime games against the Jets (Monday, September 22), Cowboys (Thursday, December 4) and Saints (Monday, December 15).

If the Niners host the Bears in a week two home opener, then it seems likely that the Seahawks will host the Niners in the kickoff game. Wise choice, NFL.

How could you forget the 5.5 sack game by Aldon Smith on Jason Campbell?

The Bears wouldn’t play the Cowboys on Thursday, December 4, unless the Cowboys are playing two Thursday games since they’ll play the week before on Thanksgiving.

Kaepernick will abuse that Bears D just like he did on MNF two years ago. The difference is that now the Bears may have enough offense to keep it close.

Should be a good game, as long as the Bears’ revamped ‘D’ plays like they know what they’re doing.

Hadn’t realized our last win at Candlestick was back in the SB year…That place was never good to Chicago, as I’m sure the Cubs would agree, too.

Not only do the Cowboy’s play back to back Thursday games but so do the Bears.

The Field of Jeans opens with a loss for the home team. The Bears beat the Colts at the home opener for Lucas Oil Stadium too. The Bears know how to break in new stadiums!
