The boos might be brrrrrrs when Jared Allen returns to Minnesota

Bears Allen Football AP

Bears defensive end Jared Allen expects to get booed when he goes back to Minnesota.

Of course, the fans there will have to be extra loud to be heard through all the layers of clothing.

The Bears close the regular season at Minnesota on Dec. 28, which ought to be fairly chilly considering the Vikings are playing outdoors at the University of Minnesota this year.

The two teams play in Chicago on November 16.

Ordinarily with a player of Allen’s age (32), you’d worry about him wearing down late in seasons. But he’s played a remarkable number of snaps and remained productive, so odds are he’ll have something in store for his old team.

Hopefully its an epic snowy classic and one for the ages!

I don’t think anyone’s going to boo Allen here. He was universally loved and didn’t leave on bad terms – the team was getting younger and he didn’t fit in the plans. I expect a positive crowd reaction when he returns.

Should be fun to watch…If Allen can help improve our horrid ‘d’ from last year, the Bears might even have something to play for besides pride.

No boos from Vikings fans, simply because we’re not Packer fans.

He put in some great seasons there and left because the time called for it. It was on good terms and he’s never been a flashy loud mouth guy. Be happy about the good years and move on. I hope they don’t boo him

I think the fans are much more likely to boo the current Vikings than this past Viking.

I just hope everyone’s healthy so that we have a great game. Last time these teams played a season finale at the Dome, the only excitement was Jared Allen coming close to truly beating the single-season sack record.

game will be for the division

Get ready for the new coldest nfl game to have taken place in Minnesota at some point in the next two years.

He didn’t join the Packers, so Jared Allen still is loved here in Minnesota.

If Allen remains productive until his 38th year, everyone in Minnesota will be dining on sour grapes…

  12. racksie says: Apr 23, 2014 11:13 PM

Yeah, Allen was well liked and good for the team. No way I see boos.

    No way he gets booed

Jared Allen won’t get booed, but I am predicting cold weather. I hope it snows.

  15. mortwannabe says: Apr 24, 2014 7:50 AM

He won’t play but for a few snaps since the Bears will have the Division & home field rapped up by then.

  16. jazz11001 says: Apr 24, 2014 10:54 AM

He will get a standing ovation. Minnesota nice.

  17. purpleguy says: Apr 24, 2014 10:56 AM

Well, we know Cutler won’t be playing that game, as he will have been injured for at least 3 weeks.

  18. deflateddome says: Apr 24, 2014 11:40 AM

He will not be booed. But also, he is not that effective outside or in snow…

In Minnesota, when an aging star player no longer fits the team’s plans everyone moves on like an adult. This includes the team/front office, the player, and especially the fans.

This is very unlike another specific fan base out there that tends to be bitter in such situations.

  20. rextraordinaire says: Apr 24, 2014 2:58 PM

Some Vikings fans will boo. Not for leaving Minnesota, no one is blaming him for that. He’ll get booed for signing with Chicago by his own free will.

You left Allen… Allen didnt leave you. Hell get applauded ib his return, and for that hell get 4 sacks as opposed to the normal 2.
