49ers tackle Anthony Davis wont be a full participant in the team’s offseason workouts.

Davis revealed on Instagram that he recently had surgery on his left shoulder. Davis was on the injury report with a shoulder issue for several weeks early in the season, but came off the report and wound up starting every game for the Niners for the fourth straight season.

“I recently had surgery for the first time ever. Played the majority of the season with a f----- up shoulder,” Davis wrote. “I hurt it against the Bucs [Davis later corrected himself and said he hurt it against the Colts in Week Three]. Never made excuses just got the job done. This game has a way of seeing what you’re really made of. One of the reasons I love it. Next season I get to use both arms. lol it’s on.”

Davis offered no timetable for his return beyond saying that he plans to use both arms while playing in 2014. That suggests little concern that he won’t be ready to resume his starting role on the right side of the line for the fifth straight season.
