Browns meet with two more quarterbacks

The Browns vowed to do all the research they could into this year’s crop of draft eligible quarterbacks and they’ve lived up to their word.

By the time the draft rolls around, it seems the only quarterback that the Browns won’t have met with is the one that Kevin Costner considers taking in Draft Day. The team added two more to the list on Friday.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the team met with Eastern Illinois’ Jimmy Garoppolo and South Carolina’s Connor Shaw on Friday. It’s not their first meeting with Garoppolo, who worked out for the team earlier in the pre-draft process. Most prognostications peg Garoppolo as a player who would be available in the second round, but the Browns have the 26th overall pick and could use it to secure Garoppolo (or another quarterback if they select a player from a different position at No. 4) if he’s the man they want.

Shaw is not nearly as highly regarded as Garoppolo and may not be drafted at all, although he has made the rounds over the last few weeks as teams cover all their bases. Cabot reports that the team is expected to work Shaw out on Saturday.
