One of the top remaining players in free agency has re-signed with the club for whom he’s played his entire career.

The Cowboys have signed defensive end Anthony Spencer to a one-year deal, agent Jordan Woy said on Twitter on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Spencer had microfracture surgery on his left knee in October. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys “hope” Spencer will be healthy when training camp starts. Spencer played in just one regular season game before the knee surgery, which ended his campaign.

The Cowboys’ first-round pick in 2007, Spencer has notched 363 tackles and 32.5 sacks in his NFL career. Two seasons ago, he recorded career-highs in tackles (95) and sacks (11).

Spencer (No. 67) was the highest-ranked unsigned player in PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100. With Spencer now back with Dallas, Packers tight end Jermichael Finley (No. 74) is the top unsigned player in PFT’s rankings.
