Michael Vick takes on a new number for the Jets

See, wearing the No. 7 isn’t a big deal. Or if it ever was, he’s over it.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets quarterback Michael Vick will wear the No. 8 jersey.

He’s still listed without a number on the Jets roster, but that’s a moot point, since he’s posted “I want to see everybody in there MV8 jerseys this year,” on his Instagram account, the [sic] notwithstanding.

The number became an issue since Jets quarterback Geno Smith took the No. 7 a year before Vick’s arrival, though those close to Vick denied it was ever of any interest to him.

The Jets can only hope it works out better than the Browning Nagle era, or that Smith plays well enough to keep that 8 on the sidelines.

In the 1991 NFL Draft , Browning Nagle was selected by the Jets one spot after . . .Brett Favre was picked by the Falcons , in the second round.

Why not change it? Seven hasn’t exactly been lucky and his criminal enterprises always had MV7 attached.

If 5 was available, he should’ ve picked it as a tribute to his brother, who never really made it.

The Jets went and told everyone they want Brett Favray and got jumped by the Falcons, thus Browning Nagle.

I’m an Eagles fan, and I accepted Vick to Philly with open arms, and you know what he did during his time in Philly? He acted like a complete gentleman the entire time, respectful, honorable, and EVERY LAST MEMBER of the Eagles would corroborate that and agree that he was leader #1.

It all depends on what number is currently on Wreck’s tattoo

  13. starchybunker says: Apr 28, 2014 12:55 PM

he’s should have taken #5; that way Rex’s would only have to get his tattoo colored in…

If he and Gino are really having a QB competition for the starting gig, they should compete for the jersey number too.

Makes sense to me! 8 is about how wins they will accomplish this season. 7 if Geno is playing.

If Vick would have just accepted #6, Rex Ryan’s wife could have simply added a little bit of brown ink to keep her tattoo somewhat relevant.

I boycotted the Eagles the past few seasons that he was the starter in Philly. But even I have to admit that after Foles took over Vick was more of a teammate than I ever thought he could be. You didn’t hear one negative word out of his mouth about not playing. I still think what he did was more than horrendous, but now he has young children who will find out about these things. As a parent how would you feel, knowing that they eventually will

The number 8 is considered lucky in China. Maybe this is the final change in his life that Vick needs to get past all his past mistakes………Hey several million people can’t be all wrong!

  25. jetfanfolife says: Apr 29, 2014 1:30 PM

Of course Vick isn’t going to say anything otherwise he would’ve been busted well before 2007
