Falcons pick up fifth-year option on Julio Jones deal

Julio Jones AP

Falcons coach Mike Smith recently expressed confidence that wide receiver Julio Jones was going to be with the team for “a long, long time.”

It’s going to be at least two more seasons.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Falcons picked up the fifth-year option on the recovering wide receiver’s rookie contract.

Jones is still working his way back from last year’s foot surgery, but is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

If the Falcons are intent on giving him a long-term deal, and they should, the option won’t amount to anything but a formality.

I think they picked up the option so there’ll be less urgency to rush the process of their negotiations this year.

Julio is beast. No brainer decision. If i would have been theGM of the Browns, he would have been a Brown.

Actually i will guarantee if i was the GM of the Browns, they would not have lost 10 games 10 out of the last 11 years.
