Falcons worked out Dan Connor

Linebacker Dan Connor faced the Falcons many times while he was with the Panthers and now he’s trying to get a job in Atlanta.

PFT has learned, via a league source, that Connor worked out for the Falcons.

Connor split last season between the Giants and Panthers, playing six games and recording four tackles. He started eight games for the Cowboys as an injury replacement for Sean Lee in 2012 and played 42 games for the Panthers in his first stint with the team.

If he winds up in Atlanta, Connor would be joining a team that’s being a bit coy about their intentions when it comes to running a 4-3 or 3-4 defense. There’s a good chance that the Falcons will wind up running a variety of looks, with┬áConnor competing for reserve snaps on the inside with the likes of Akeem Dent and Joplo Bartu.

Honestly I don’t think the Falcons are trying to be a 3-4 or a 4-3 team, I think Nolan is trying a multiple D.

He’d be a special teamer at best. I really liked what I saw from Bartu last season. His season was overshadowed by Worrilow’s monster welcoming party.

He was great at PSU, and I remember him in high school, where everyone knew he was going to be a great college player, but the best players play on Sunday. It just shows what a big leap that final step is from college to the NFL.

Connor has a good work ethic if he can stay healthy and would also be a special teams guy. This would be a good pick up for Atlanta if they sign him.

He was a very good player for Carolina when they drafted him. But concussions have taken there tole on him.
