Wide receiver has been a hot spot with the Eagles in recent months.

The team kicked off the offseason by re-signing Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin, which seemed to give them a very strong trio at the top of the depth chart for the 2014 season. Then came the DeSean Jackson saga, which started as whispers about trade rumors moved into a discussion of Jackson’s possible gang ties and ended with Jackson’s release last month.

Will the focus on receiver continue in the first round of next month’s draft? The Eagles have spent a lot of time checking out the available options at the position, but the depth of both the Eagles offense and the receiver group could send them in a different direction. Defensive backs and pass rushers would also make a lot of sense in Philly, giving the team plenty of paths to follow once May 8 rolls around.
