While Peyton Manning is making his “pay your respects” tour through New York, he made a little time to update folks on his little brother’s rehab too.

According to the New York Daily News, the elder Manning said Eli was progressing well after ankle surgery.

He feels good,” Peyton said of Eli. “He was doing some light throwing the other day, obviously just kind of upper-body stuff.”

Eli is expected to miss OTAs, but with a six-week timetable, should be fine for training camp. He visited foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in April for the procedure.

“He’s disappointed he’s got to miss some of the OTAs, but it’s better than missing games during the season,” Peyton said. “So it was the right thing to do. . . .

“Just the doctor thought this might pop up in the fall. Might as well knock it out now. It’s hard to do, but it was the right thing to do, and I know he [Eli] will be excited once he can get back out there.”

And we also look forward to Eli providing injury updates on his brother if it ever comes up.
