After spending 11 of his 12 seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, linebacker Larry Foote is headed to join the Arizona Cardinals.

According to the Associated Press, Foote signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Foote played in just one game for Pittsburgh last season. He suffered a ruptured right biceps and was placed on injured reserve.

Foote has started 119 of 172 games during his 12-year career. He spent his first seven seasons in Pittsburgh before playing one year for the Detroit Lions in 2009. Foote returned to the Steelers the following year and has spent the last four years back in Pittsburgh.

Foote likely will provide some added insurance for the Cardinals at inside linebacker as Daryl Washington faces a possible suspension after pleading guilty to assaulting an ex-girlfriend in April.

Pittsburgh West! Gonna miss ya Larry, put in a lot of good tackles for Pittsburgh and he’s a great guy in the locker room. He led the Steelers in tackles 2 years ago I believe. Can’t wait for you to come back to sign that one-day contract :)

Some veteran ILB depth for likely cheap on a 1 yr deal.

Good signing – a veteran presence to help develop DWash into a better leader, and to help Minter develop. Not going to fill Dansby void, but also not what they’re trying to do here. Good signing.

Pittsburgh-West continues on, even without Whisenhunt.

I used to think that the Cardinals players and coaches, and the Steeler players and coaches, should all get together and go bowling. But I’m pretty sure they already do.

And after watching Foote for those 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, I can only wonder how he has been allowed to continue with his employment for so long.

What is with the Cardinals obsession with signing former Steelers players? Or coaches for that matter.

I guess he has some more football in him. Great player!

Great player? When? Where? To some Steelers fans, merely wearing the black and gold made a player “great.” Jeez, I guess Bubby Brister was a “great player” and “class dude.” too

Bubby Brister is also a class dude.
