Report: Jim Irsay plans to be at Atlanta owners meeting

Irsay AP

We haven’t heard much from or about Colts owner Jim Irsay since mid-March, when the team announced he entered a facility “for treatment and care” after his drug arrest.

And that’s probably a good thing.

But he may be doing well enough to re-appear soon.

According to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star, Colts COO Pete Ward said Irsay plans to be at the league’s owners meeting in Atlanta later this month, and make a presentation on behalf of the city’s Super Bowl bid.

There’s probably some other stuff his business partners would like to hear from him also, but the hope is that he’s getting the help he needs.

Hopefully, he will stop using social media.
Stay out of the lime light.
Jones is such a fool anyway. Let him act up

apparently he’s going to meet up with the packer owners to discuss how to always live in the past.

What a terrible owner Jim Irsay is. Thank God my Redskins, who are GOD’S CHOSEN TEAM, have such an amazing owner in Dan Snyder. #HTTR #OnlyGoodThingAnIrsayEverDidWasMoveTheColtsToIndy

Rumor has it that upon ending the presentation, Irsay will yell to Mark Murphy, “We’re going STREAKING! Bring your green hat, let’s go!”

They should treat him like Sterling. His committed a crime. Sterling committed stupidity.

There must be an open bar.

    (Too soon?)

    (Not soon enough?)

So no word on any punishment for this guy even though owners are supposed to be held to the highest standard? Even last year when the Broncos executive got a DUI he was suspended.

  11. flannlv says: May 7, 2014 11:18 AM

Players get suspended, they can’t be around the facility. NFL owners get to present a Super Bowl bid.

For Christ sake Logi Shut up!

SOOOOOOOO glad Irsay can in less than 2 months get charged with Drugs and cash get to go to an owners meeting and make decisions. But players with 1 urinalysis failure can get a years ban…

    What s sham!

Guess he’ll be moving the Colts to LA..

This just in…billionaires don’t live by the same rules as us. I’m not mad about it. Why are you? When you run the corporation, or the country, it comes with certain perks.

I hear you, the league tends to ignore when people affiliated with one of their “favorite” teams does something. If Dan Snyder did what Irsay did, they’d have banned him for life.

  18. rocketcrab says: May 7, 2014 11:44 AM

I’m no fan of the Irsay family, but I hope he is doing well in his recovery.

Hopefully he doesn’t partake in any of the complimentary nose candy.

  21. babygaga19 says: May 7, 2014 11:57 AM

What a joke. He should be in jail like you and me if the circumstances were reversed. His cred with the NFL owners is gone, long gone. Good luck Jimmy Boy!

  22. jdbaker01 says: May 7, 2014 11:59 AM

He’ll be the one chanting “Toga” during Goodell’s speech to owners.

  23. ilikethefalcons says: May 7, 2014 12:06 PM

I’ll be sure to avoid Atlanta roads that weekend.

Thanks for the heads up PFT!

When your name is Manning or Irsay, you can break any rules or laws you want, and get a pass. Zero punishments, fines, suspensions, or penalties.
Other owners/players would be suspended, lose a draft pick, fined or banned for life….what a joke this is. Favoritism at it’s best.

  25. sdelmonte says: May 7, 2014 12:23 PM

Until he serves whatever suspension he gets, he would be wise to make himself as invisible as Claude Rains.

I guess we are going to see logicalvoice spew his nonsense all year on EVERY post untill RG3-and-out tears up a knee or the Skins are 2-9 then thankfully he will vanish once again.

Yet another foolish statement from you. I don’t think God’s team would have such a history of overpaying free agency failures. Hey at least you got the best QB in the 2012 draft. Well at least it look like that at first. #BelieveInBlue #LuckoverGriffin

  31. realnflmaster says: May 7, 2014 1:06 PM

Trent Richardson will do that to you.

  32. humpofdc says: May 7, 2014 1:28 PM

What if he comes out a tweets something that makes sense!!!!

  33. mogogo1 says: May 7, 2014 1:34 PM

What exactly is the league going to do with him? If this had been a player there’s no way it would have taken this long. I recall the Broncos having a couple front office guys caught drunk and they were punished almost instantly.

  34. 75rockrasin says: May 7, 2014 1:40 PM

As part of indy’s bid for the super bowl, each owner will find $30,000 stuffed in briefcases under their beds

  35. jamaltimore says: May 7, 2014 1:40 PM

  39. beartastic45 says: May 7, 2014 2:12 PM

Just like any player that violated the personal conduct policy irsay needs to be held accountable for his actions. If silver was commissioner he hold have suspended irsay for a year and put him in the treatment program. One more violation and silver would pull a sterling and ban irsay from the nfl. You think lord Goodell would have the guts to do that? Me thinks not. Silver for nfl commish!

  40. nclrbrt says: May 7, 2014 3:55 PM

It’s pretty easy to see what most of the posters here would be doing in Irsay’s shoes. What a bunch of jerks! I’m glad to see him trying to show his fellow owners that things are getting better. I have no doubt there will be NFL consequences for his missteps. What form they may take is open to question. (Goodell is such a tool!) But for crissakes, people, give the guy a chance!

  41. melikefootball says: May 7, 2014 5:17 PM

So when does God-del do his thing with this owner.

  42. chazatlas says: May 7, 2014 8:34 PM

He owns the rehab facility. Comes complete with open bar.

  43. simonator917 says: May 7, 2014 10:54 PM

He isn’t driving to Atlanta, is he?
