Report: Buccaneers won’t select Johnny Manziel at No. 7

Johnny Manziel AP

One of the teams most often linked to Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel in pre-draft speculation reportedly will not take him at its current spot in the top 10 on Thursday night.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox, the Buccaneers “won’t” pick Manziel with the No. 7 overall selection.

The Buccaneers signed Josh McCown in free agency and have tabbed him as their starter. Mike Glennon, whom the Buccaneers selected in Round Three in the 2013 draft, is also on the depth chart.

Glazer’s report only specifies that Manziel isn’t at play at No. 7 for Tampa Bay. It’s another piece of intelligence in trying to solve one of the draft’s riddles — the matter of where Manziel takes his talents next.

    Lies.

I’ll be so glad when we can talk about Manziel as a Buc instead of all of the draft smoke and mirrors.

As a Bucs fan, I have never wanted Jay Glazer to be right so much.

Lovie is too smart to take a risk on this guy. They’ll take Mike Evans.

Go with Glennon. He has upside still untapped, while McCown’s upside potential is already known

This I can believe. Still think Jacksonville will take Johnny

Donald and GMC is very tempting but Vincent Jackson can be quadruple teamed with those “receivers” that are behind him right now. Gotta be Evans, maybe even Ebron because they need more receiving threats

As a Bears fan with experience as to what Lovie likes, he will go defense 1st and formost. He can’t help himself and if he does take a QB before round 3 the player will not be used correctly. Loved watching his defense but the man has no clue on offense.

That’s because the Bucs are going to trade up to #2 to select Manziel before the Jaguars can get him.

At least that’s a summary of the PFT posts the past few days…

that big sigh of relief you here is from Manziel, now there is still hope Johnny Football is still alive and will not go to die in lovie’s get off the bus running offense.

With all the stories of everybody not wanting Johnny being reported every hour, I’m surprised the kid isn’t suffering from depression yet.

You have to love all the smokescreens….

Of course they won’t, he’s going to Jacksonville at #3. Remember that the NFL is a business. Manziel will pay for his contract many times over in jersey and ticket sales. This is a team in desperate need of a face, it will soon be that of Johnny Jacksonville.

For those of us in the know: this isn’t Lovie’s offense, it’s Tedfords offense. Which needs a mobile, intelligent QB with a quick release. And if we are reading tea leaves, Lovie said during his year off he studied 3 teams to reinvent his offensive philosophy…49ers, Seahawks, Panthers…..

Strong run game, back breaking defense, and mobile QB that can extend plays.

    Trust Lovie
