During the long days before the draft began, there was talk from the Ravens about adding a rookie to Joe Flacco and Tyrod Taylor in the quarterback room.

They did that with the 194th overall pick during the sixth round on Saturday. The Ravens selected Keith Wenning of Ball State, who drew a fair amount of interest around the league over the last couple of months.

The Ravens were one team that made their interest known by hosting Wenning on a visit in April. Wenning started all four years in college for Ball State and leaves as the career leader in every major passing stat, but it’s hard to find too many people who think he’ll be an NFL starter because of his limited physical skills.

He’ll fight for a backup role in Baltimore, then, and could hang around the league a while if he proves to be a worthy addition to the depth chart while holding a clipboard.
