Jets add eight undrafted players

Texas Tech v SMU

Texas Tech v SMU

Cooper Neill

The Jets came into the 2014 draft with 12 picks and used all of them to bring some needed depth to their roster.

All those picks made for a smaller crop of undrafted free agents than you’ll see from some other teams. The Jets announced eight signings on Sunday.

Among the group is defensive lineman Kerry Hyder, who was a teammate of Jets second-round pick Jace Amaro at Texas Tech. Hyder started 41 games for the Red Raiders and had 11 sacks on his way to a pair of second-team All-Big 12 honors. The Jets aren’t looking for help in the starting lineup on the defensive line, but Hyder should challenge for a spot on the bench.

Joining Hyder as new members of the Jets are Boston College linebacker Steele Divitto, Saginaw Valley tackle Tevon Conrad, Missouri State defensive end Anthony Grady, Arizona tight end Terrence Miller, Nebraska tackle Brent Qvale, Wake Forest linebacker Zach Thompson and San Diego State fullback Chad Young.
