For much of the offseason, it looked like former Florida cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy would be drafted somewhere in the middle rounds after flashing plenty of athletic ability during his time with the Gators.

Then came word that Purifoy had been stopped by police with narcotics in his possession. Purifoy wasn’t arrested because he reportedly agreed to serve as a police informant, but that arrangement led to an investigation and Purifoy already had a red flag after a 2013 marijuana arrest so it wasn’t a great surprise that he wound up undrafted.

He won’t go unsigned, however. The Colts announced that they have signed Purifoy as a free agent, adding him to the group of undrafted rookies they announced over the weekend.

Purifoy is unpolished, but was athletic enough to play some wide receiver in Gainesville and the raw materials are intriguing. If Purifoy can stay out of trouble, he could help the Colts on special teams at the very least.
