Jaguars announce 17 UDFAs, including Stephen Morris

Morris

The Jaguars drafted a quarterback from Florida with the third pick in the draft. After the draft ended, they picked another quarterback from Florida.

The process that began with Blake Bortles becoming the No. 3 pick ended with the Jags signing Miami quarterback Stephen Morris. The move reunites Morris with Jacksonville offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch, who worked at Miami before joining Gus Bradley’s staff.

Fisch also ran the former Hurricanes quarterback’s Pro Day workout, and the relationship necessarily gives Morris an edge in the competition to make the team as the No. 3 option. Or, at worst, to secure one of the eight spots on the team’s practice squad.

Also joining the Jaguars as undrafted free agents were Northwestern kicker Jeff Budzien, Cumberland running back Terrance Cobb, California defensive tackle DeAndre Coelman, Louisville receiver Damian Copeland, Rice long snapper Trevor Gillette, Oregon defensive tackle Ricky Havili-Heimuli, Miami receiver Allen Hurns, Fresno State tight end Marcel Jensen, Missouri-Western State tight end Reggie Jordan, Louisiana State safety Craig Loston, Oregon State cornerback Rashaad Reynolds, Clemson guard Tyler Shatley, Utah State tight end D.J. Tialavea, James Madison tackle Josh Wells, Maryland linebacker Marcus Whitfield, and Tennessee Tech punter Chad Zinchini.
