Jaguars release six players, including guard Will Rackley

The Jaguars are wiping the slate clean at offensive guard.

Left guard Will Rackley, who started 11 games for the Jaguars in 2013, was among six players released on Monday, the club said on its website.

The Jaguars also parted ways with running back Delone Carter, fullback Shaun Chapas, wide receiver Jeremy Ebert, defensive tackle Drake Nevis and wide receiver Stephen Williams, the team said.

Rackley’s departure means the club will have a pair of new starters at guard. Right guard Uche Nwaneri, a 16-game starter for Jacksonville in 2013, was released in March. The Jaguars signed Broncos left guard Zane Beadles at the beginning of free agency and drafted Miami (Fla.) guard Brandon Linder in Round Three of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The 24-year-old Rackley started 25 games in three seasons with Jacksonville, which selected him in the third round of the 2011 draft. Given his youth and starting experience, it’s possible he could get looks elsewhere.

The Jaguars’ moves to open roster spots comes as the club adds nine drafted rookies and 17 undrafted rookies.
