Eagles sign Josh Huff

The Eagles have joined the Bears on the list of teams that have started signing their 2014 draft picks.

Wide receiver Josh Huff is the first member of the Eagles draft class to agree to his four-year rookie deal. Huff was selected in the third round with the 86th overall pick.

Huff won’t have to spend much time introducing himself to coach Chip Kelly since Huff played for Kelly at Oregon before the coach moved on to the NFL. Huff isn’t as dynamic a receiver as second-round pick Jordan Matthews, but he showed solid hands and an affinity for run blocking while playing for the Ducks. If those things accompany him to the NFL, he could take some of the snaps left open by the departure of Jason Avant.

Matthews is one of six other Eagles draft picks that still need to sign their contracts.

Donte Moncrief was still on the board when we drafted this guy. BAD move. Moncrief 6’2 220 and runs a 4.35, come on now…….

if he is better than damarus johnson, im sold!

There’s a reason that even with those measurables no one drafted Moncrief before the 3rd. He runs poor routes and drops way too many balls. But, hey, he’s big and fast so he must be great!

Well then, that makes it a wrap. The Bears and Eagles will meet in the conference championship for certain.

Familiarity, tough blocker, good hands, 12TD’s last season, signed his contract and ready to go to work, I’m sold. I predict 5 TDs this year for Huff.

Watch the game tape on Huff, not the spider chart. Already knows the offense, catches everything, flattens DBs while run blocking, very competitive, great at separating from DBs, high production. Has been compared to a bigger, faster Wes Welker. Much better than some project with great measurables.

I like what Chip did, by removing lil Desean, but something still doesn’t feel right about him……Good Luck Eagles, just a gut feeling….wish you the best of luck!

Wasn’t a fan at first but after watching the game tape on him I’ve got a fresh take on him. He’s a nasty blocker and very punishing runner even for his smaller size. Solid hands too I want to see this guy in the slot and Matthews on the outside with maclin.

This guy is like a Ferrari. Hes so explosive he can go full speed in 3 strides.

@barsfordays, Huff is full out football player which is what’s needed somebody needs to do the grunt work on the field. Maclin and Mathews will more than play the Moncrief part. I’m a big Huff fan and you will be too. I promise you.

    Donte Moncrief ???

are you serious?? every write up on the guy says
    “bad hands” “drops passes”
“time speed doesn’t translate to game play”
    “lacks seperation”
“doesn’t win the press battles at the line”

    you really want that??

  18. myeaglescantwin says: May 14, 2014 11:23 AM

Huff looks like Steve Smith Junior.

constantly moving forward and mean.. You can’t teach tenacity and meanness.

Two posts have said “Chip Kelly back to college in 2015″….. Explain the logic? If you make that comment you are clearly just full of hate and know nothing about football. His first year coaching he takes his team to a division title. With results like that, he will get a raise and extension before he ever returns to college. We have a coach with a superior football mind. Deal with it 🙂

The logic is simple first you can live in denial but the Jackson move was stupid. No other coach would have let a key part of the offense and such a productive player in his prime go. McCoy and Foles key players on the Eagles both said he was not a problem in the locker room. Chip feels his system is above having players who can do it that is a college mentality. Next he is not addressing his defense. Eagles lack a decent pass rush and secondary. Though they had some decent games against bad teams they will struggle against better offenses. With Skins and Giants improving their Defenses and Eagles having to face the NFC west Chips offense will face defenses attacking which with his fast pace will force quick 3 and outs and wear down his already mediocre Defense. Chip almost lost to the worst Dallas Defense in team history and The Saints knocked him out first round of the playoffs. Draft was very unimpressive by the Eagles. Still waiting to see where this guy is so smart. Let’s see how you feel about him by mid season next year
