Panthers “very disappointed” about Greg Hardy charges

Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy turned himself into police this morning, after being charged with a misdemeanor communicating threats and assault on a female.

According to the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers franchise-tagged defensive end was charged after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call at 4:18 a.m. A woman who said she had been in a relationship with Hardy since September said she had been physically assaulted and threatened.

We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate,” the Panthers said in a statement.

The Panthers have expensive decisions to make this season about the future of the position, with Hardy and Charles Johnson taking up more than 20 percent of the team’s salary cap themselves.

The team had been talking about a long-term contract with Hardy prior to the tag, but this will give them pause.

Disappointed enough to stop negotiating a long term deal? No, but they will lower their offer a few million.

This matters screams to the Panthers GM: Incentive-Laden Deal.

If you trust a guy like this, it could really bite you in the butt. Shift the risk — Hardy’s ever-growing list of transgressions mean he needs to EARN his pay.

If Hardy produces, he gets paid. If he doesn’t, then he bears the brunt of his misconduct and/or sub-par play.

They’ll probably resign him and reward him. After all, they made a convicted thief and college scam artist the face of their franchise. AND fans worship him.

    Pathetic franchise…

He must be buddies with knock em out Ray Rice of the Ravens.

The Panthers issued a stronger response than the Ravens… and that isn’t saying much.

And time to reset that pesky Days Without Arrest graphic, just when it was almost to double digits!

I bet on average, no other category of workers are arrested more per capita, heck professional criminals probably have a better percentage of avoiding arrests! OK, maybe that is too much but seriously…..

Let’s recap the NFL right now. Smoking a little dope is legal in 20 states for medicinal use and is also legal for recreational use in 2 states. Beating a woman is illegal in all states… 1 guy is getting suspended for the yr for committing a legal act…the other guy?

    1. Frank Alexander gets suspended for substance abuse
    2. Carolina drafts Kony Ealy
    3. Greg Hardy gets charged

WTF is going on with the Panthers’ DEs?!
