Greg Hardy spent the night in jail, will appear in court today

Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy will get his time in front of a judge this morning, after spending the night in the Mecklenburg County Jail after his domestic violence arrest.

Hardy, the Panthers’ franchise player, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault on a female and communicating threats following a after-hours dispute with his girlfriend.

According to the Charlotte Observer, police responded to a downtown condominium at 4:18 a.m., and the report said his girlfriend suffered bruises and scratches.

The Panthers have expressed disappointment, but said little else. There had been talks about a long-term contract with Hardy, but you can bet that’s not coming any time soon.

Scheduled to make $13.1 million this year, the Panthers agreed to a salary advance of $1.3 million contingent on his showing up for offseason workouts.

He won’t be making that workout today, at least.

Team owner Jerry Richardson has little tolerance for players who commit crimes against women or children, according to a team source.

I hope it doesn’t end up like the Chris Terry situation a while back. The Panthers just out right released him and he went on to have a pretty decent career elsewhere. Although, I think Terry had several occurences before the Big Cat took that action. We need to do our due diligence on this one and make sure that this is not par for the course with Hardy.

I think they will due what the Ravens always do…nothing. It’s all about the dollars it’s that simple.

Dang bc1906, I had managed to forget about Terry.

We’ll see as the legal process runs its course, but I really hope this is an isolated incident, and that after JR reads Hardy the riot act, Hardy will channel all that insanity for use exclusively on the field. We shall see…

Yea I don’t think Hardy is a bad dude off the field. I hope this is a just being a young and stupid occasion that never happens again.

With that said, nobody getting paid like that in the professional world of sports or otherwise is out and about at 4:30 in the morning. Good to bed man for reals

Richardson should trade him to Seattle for next years first round pick. We sure would not want to see old Jerry keep this guy since he is a defender of the vulnerable. Are you ready to do the paperwork Jerry? Now let’s watch Jerry justify Greg’s second chance due to his talent. Joke
