Report: Browns hire Aaron Glenn as assistant defensive backs coach

Aaron Glenn spent 15 years playing cornerback in the NFL and now he’ll be passing along what he learned over that time with members of the Browns secondary.

Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports that Glenn has been hired as an assistant defensive backs coach in Cleveland. Glenn will leave his job as a Jets scout, which he started in 2012 when Browns coach Mike Pettine was the defensive coordinator under Rex Ryan.

Glenn spent eight years with the Jets after they made him a first-round pick in the 1994 draft and made two Pro Bowls while picking off 24 passes before moving on to Houston. Glenn made another Pro Bowl with the Texans and later played for the Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints before retiring with 41 interceptions.

The Browns have Jeff Hafley on staff as their defensive backs coach and also have Bobby Babich as an assistant for the position group.

They are really beefing up the secondary.

    1) #9 overall.
    2) Haden extended to 2019.
    3) Two-time pro-bowl position coach

    Gig Em!

Aaron Glen was part of the Texans win when the Steelers outgained the Texans 422-47.

Glenn had 2 pick 6s in that game.

KC made a similar move with former DB coach Al Harris. he was a big reason (rumored) that they landed Sean Smith in FA. (tampering was talked about, then he claimed he wasn’t going there, disappeared, and signed a contract with KC a week later, citing Al Harris as a big reason for being comfortable there)

smart to hire some of these savvy ex players. they can bring a lot to the table. Harris helped develop Marcus Cooper last year too. that was a 7th round pick who got cut with 3 int’s and 22 pd’s. that is good coaching.

Glenn was a good guy in NYC. Solid player. Never caused trouble.

Best story the name reminds me of-

Drew Bledsoe on the winds at Giants stadium “I launched one at Terry Glenn, and it ended up going to AARON Glenn….”
