The Redskins fleshed out their roster Thursday, by signing 10 undrafted rookies and releasing a couple of guys, including one who once flashed big-play potential.

The team announced they had released wide receiver David Gettis and kicker Jake Rogers.

Gettis, a former sixth-round pick of the Panthers, started 13 games in 2010 and caught 37 passes for 508 yards and three touchdowns, before knee injuries derailed his career.

The 10 rookies the Redskins signed included: Tulane nose tackle Chris Davenport, Southern wide receiver Lee Doss, BYU wide receiver Cody Hoffman,

Indiana wide receiver Kofi Hughes, Northwestern wide receiver Rashad Lawrence, Texas-El Paso tight end Kevin Perry, Southern Cal running back Silas Redd, Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees, North Dakota State defensive back Bryan Shepherd  and Arkansas nose tackle Robert Thomas.

Rashad Lawrence will make the 53. Kofi Hughes and Silas Redd have a shot, too

“We had high hopes for David and Jake, but in the end they were just guys. So we cut them.”.

I’m somewhat surprised Silas Redd not only went undrafted, but also unsigned for almost a week. This guy will make some team- maybe not Washington because the Redskins have a pretty solid RB depth chart, but he should make some team.

    The panthers will resign him…

Only Cody Hoffman and Kofi Hughes have a chance to stick but it wont be both. The rest are camp bodies.

What about signing a punter? Kirby Van Der Kamp (udfa) is still out there unsigned…we desperately need some competition at that spot!

I could see Hoffman as a Patrick Jeffers type. Receivers without elite speed or athleticism often fall through the draft process, but those with big bodies and football IQ have a way of being contributors if they have *just* enough quicks.

Were they trying to improve the QB position?

Tommy Rees will soon be the teams starting QB.

Skins have RG3, Cousins and Mccoy. Why get another QB (Rees)? Need more D.

  13. geniusesq says: May 15, 2014 2:18 PM

You need people to throw in practice which is why most teams have 5+ QBs in the offseason. He’ll be gone in the summer

  14. floratiotime says: May 15, 2014 2:18 PM

The R-Words QB job is up for grabs now that RG3 is a bust.

Hahahaha tommy Rees will be the starting quarterback soon! Hahah that’s the joke of the year

Tommy Rees? Watch out, Cousins, you might be cut this off season! Lol, and some idiots actually said you are better then RG3?

Cody Hoffman is a good signing. He is not a spreed demon but he can get open.

  18. stevenray72 says: May 15, 2014 4:54 PM

    Where are the offensive lineman??

  19. claimersays says: May 19, 2014 1:17 PM

As SOON as the draft ended the Skins should have been on the horn grabbing Shayne Skov to partner w Trent Murphy. I HOPE Skov washes out in SF due to competition. Going to be hard to beat out Willis or Bowman. I like Riley but the Redskins could use some more help at the ILB position.
