The Cowboys have been keeping tabs on former top-10 pick Amobi Okoye, and they finally signed him Friday.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, the Cowboys signed Okoye to a two-year deal.

Okoye was out of football last year with an undisclosed medical condition, but the Cowboys were checking on him then because their entire defensive line was in medical distresses of their own.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli coached Okoye with the Bears for two seasons, and obviously sees some potential in the 26-year-old Okoye.

26 years old and he was drafted in the 2007 draft…damn…

This guy has seemingly bounced on and off various teams’ rosters forever and is still only 26. But as I recall he was only 19 or 20 when he was drafted so that would explain it. He had enough ability to be drafted in the top 10 but for whatever reasons things have just never clicked for him in the league.

So much potential especially since he entered the league at 19-20yrs old. Too bad he hasn’t done a damn thing.

I always remember him for being like 19 when he was drafted. I think he graduated high school like 2 years early.

He definitely has not lived up to a top 10 pick but he could be a good pickup for dallas…He adds depth to Dline that definitely needs it…not to mention he played for the D coordinator 2 years ago…

Wonder if he’s related to Christian Okoye, who was pretty bad-a$$ in Tecmo Super Bowl?

LMAO same cowboys fans who diss the texans are gonna be claiming he will replace demarcus ware…yet he is a texans former first round draft bust who never lived up to his potential and has bounced from team to team.. same texans team that has more playoff victories since thye came into the league than the cowboys in that time span..tj yates and matt shcaub have the same amount of playoff wins as tony romo does!!! choo choo cowboys going to the superbowl!!!!!!

Wonder how he’s still only 26?

Because he was only 19 when he was drafted…duh…he doesn’t age in dog years.

Another Texans first round DL pick….Texans have ocd drafting DLineman in round 1. Reminds me of the Lions with WRs

They still haven’t won meaningful games since this kid’s dad played.

I can’t picture who he is they all look alike

I will never know why the Texans took him that high. It’s not like hockey, baseball or even basketball. NOBODY at 19 years old is physically, mentally or emotionally equipped to play in the NFL. Much less be a Top 10 draft pick.

That all being said, it’s probably a smart hedge. Everybody assumes Henry Melton will be 1oo% full go from day one for the ‘Boys but I don’t think that is a safe assumption to make at all.

Why not bring him in and let him compete. Marinelli used a bunch of scrubs last year on the D Line and had them playing hard. Former 7th rounder George Selvie had 7 sacks…really. Btw, Texans blow. Don’t compare the franchises.

Cowboys, by FAR, have the worst defense in the NFL!

Seems similar to the signing of Henry Melton. They are hoping both can bounce back after injury to add a pass rush to the line .

Obi Wan Okoye will use ‘The Force” and force Jerry to overpay him.
