Vikings sign three picks, get Josh Samuda to IR

Stanford v California Getty Images

The Vikings conducted some front-office business today as they took the field for minicamp.

The team announced they signed three draft choices, inking their fifth-, sixth- and seventh-round picks.

They signed guard David Yankey and cornerbacks Kendall James and Jabari Price, along with adding undrafted rookie guard Austin Wentworth.

They also placed guard Josh Samuda on injured reserve. He cleared waivers after breaking his leg during an offseason conditioning workout.

None of those guys would even make our practice squad.

I really like that yankee pick, as well as the exum pick. Good value.

The prolific Minnesota Vikings franchise is officially the most talented team in the NFL.

Mike Zimmer & Rick Spielman are the best coach / GM duo in all of football.

Our organization is not only great, it’s historic,

    Skol.

How can you put a player on IR in the off-season?

“None of those guys would even make our practice squad.”

by that you mean your local peewee team?

I just can’t wait till the regular season is over and Vikings finish last again hahaha

    @thepftpoet

    Historically bad.

These guys better buckle down and do everything in their power to make the final 53 because once you get cut from the Vikings, its the end of the line.

Historically last place finishing teams are devoid of talent, that’s why the Vikings have adopted their own unique style of player acquisition, wait till the Packers cut a player and then immediately sign them, whether they can play or not.

    Ain’t gonna make any difference.

  11. packerenglishmajor says: May 16, 2014 5:58 PM

    Can you pronounce Letroy Guion?

  12. packerenglishmajor says: May 16, 2014 6:01 PM

. . . and on the eighth day a miracle occurred; a Viking article was posted on PFT and no Packer fans posted on it.

Yankee was a great pick up for the Chiefs. Was hoping the eagles would draft him As a replacement for mathis

  14. purplezimmerpride says: May 16, 2014 6:46 PM

Sigh… I read that as, Vikings throw three picks.

    @whatjusthappened

You mean like the Packers that finished last in 2005 and 2008? Yup, I would say that they were devoid of talent, especially that 2008 team.

Are you still wondering what just happened?

yeah becuz no Vikings don’t make the team and end up in other places like Seattle

Yankey was a steal. Some mocks right up till draft day had him going in the 2nd round. The Vikings Gs have been horrible the last couple of years so he shouldn’t have trouble winning a starting spot at all.

And they all have reservations for the Vikings next Love Boat cruise.

I understand Teddy Bridgewater had a hard time grasping the pen, when he signed his contract. I heard it was kind of big for him.

  22. bornahawker says: May 16, 2014 10:26 PM

Yes! Along with buffalo 0-4 in Super Bowls. Trash franchises

  23. pftpoetsboyfriend says: May 17, 2014 2:03 PM

The most classless franchise in the league and in sports.

  24. stellarperformance says: May 17, 2014 2:05 PM

I remember when Viking fans would loudly vent their frustrations with Culpepper when he would repeatedly allow the ball to slip out of his small hands. Guess what? His hands are larger than those of Bridgewater. Wow. That sucks, huh?

  25. tokyosandblaster says: May 18, 2014 9:54 PM

    Samuda is the lucky one.
