Five down, four to go for the Patriots’ 2014 draft class.

The agents for defensive back Jemea Thomas announced that their client has agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Patriots. The sixth-round pick played corner and safety during his Georgia Tech career and coach Bill Belichick called him “an interesting guy” because of his versatility.

“I think he has some versatility — he’s smart, he runs well, he’€™s a tough kid, he’™s a good tackler. I think that there’’s definitely a place defensively to have a player like that,” Belichick said, via “Logan Ryan was different, but had some similarities to that last year where he played outside, he played in the slot, played some snaps at safety.”

With Thomas signed, first-round defensive tackle Dominique Easley, second-round quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, fourth-round center Bryan Stork and sixth-round guard Jon Halapio are the Patriots draftees without signed deals.

I think the Pats will use him or Logan Ryan as safeties as well as nickel back corners.

I had a lot of hope for Chung when the Pats drafted him. Shame he never really panned out. The fact that he knows the system probably stops him getting cut in camp.

    Is he a beast though?

I’m disappointed. Thought for sure there would be some comment here saying Belichick must have done some cheating to get that pick.

Jemea Thomas and Shamiel Gary will push Tavon Wilson out of the roster, finally!
