Ravens down to two unsigned draft picks after signing Brent Urban

The Ravens have reached agreement with the seventh member of their 2014 draft class.

Defensive end Brent Urban is the latest player to agree to a four-year contract with the team. Urban’s signing leaves first-round linebacker C.J. Mosley and third-round safety Terrence Brooks as the only Ravens selections without contracts.

Urban was selected in the fourth round with the 134th overall pick and joins the Ravens after picking up 16.5 tackles for loss during his career at Virginia. He’s coming off of ankle surgery, which kept him from participating in rookie minicamp and will likely limit him until training camp.

Once Urban is healthy, he’ll start working toward earning snaps behind Chris Canty

    This pleases Brent’s brother, Keith.

With all these defensive tackles additions with Jerigan and Urban plus about 3-4 undrafted free agents I’m starting to think Canty job secruity is in job. Could get cut in the preseason.

This year I would disagree. He was pretty good last year, when he wasn’t nicked up. Next year, after Jernigan has a year under his belt, they may let Canty walk.

Unable to work out, and carrying a bit of a pot belly, Brent quickly acquired the nickname “Urban Sprawl” among his new teammates.

Looks like he’s already acclimated to the Ravens offseason diet & conditioning program.
