J’Marcus Webb ends his world tour by signing with Chiefs

For a guy with a resume that isn’t exactly sterling, J’Marcus Webb drew considerable interest.

Now, according to SiriusXM NFL Radio, Webb has decided to sign with the Chiefs today.

The veteran tackle worked out for the Vikings and Panthers last week, after visiting the Chiefs in March.

The Chiefs have plenty of holes up front, after losing Branden Albert, Geoff Schwartz and Jon Asamoah in free agency.

Signing Webb doesn’t necessarily fill in those blanks, but the guy does have 45 NFL starts, and at least provides some swing tackle insurance.

    Wants that KC Barbecue.

I see the DEs and LBs of the other AFC West teams licking their chops…! Webb is like an usher that shows the way to the QB..

  3. vdogg says: May 19, 2014 9:20 AM

He “decided” on the Chiefs….as if there were teams lined up, beating down his door….

More like a swinging gate. I’m sorry Alex Smith.

FACT: People named J’Marcus suck at football.

    Good Luck with that KC…

The Vikings were so enamored of his “45 career starts” that they let him walk and went with untested linemen as their backups. Good luck KC. The Bears gave him every opportunity to succeed. Now it’s journeyman time.

hope the chiefs have a good backup plan because they will need it if he is their starting tackle. wonder if smith will get crucified for yelling at him the way Cutler did if he is still conscious after getting sacked 5 times in a game?

  9. schmitty2 says: May 19, 2014 9:54 AM

When he’s playing it will be the equvilent of a hockey power play…..5 on 4.

Good guy but “swing” in his care refers to a revolving door. Cutler sends his sympathies to Alex Smith.

Raiders are drooling….. we are gonna win the West this year if Manning falters…

Wow, Chiefs sign the “Swinging Gate” . Good luck with that….

Lol @ people thinking he’s going to start.

The chiefs continue to build ….. Their way back to mediocrity. Wow, not the best first round pick, letting key contributors walk to free angency and signing questionable replacements. Can u say last place. At least the BBQ is good.

  15. r8rsfan says: May 19, 2014 10:32 AM

Andy is putting all the pieces in place to make a run at coach of the year. If he can win with less talent this year he will probably deserve it.

  16. kcflake says: May 19, 2014 10:39 AM

Can he Catch the ball??? JK. Go Chiefs !!!

  17. malek773 says: May 19, 2014 10:43 AM

I hope the Cheifs have a good backup QB. If he’s on the feild at all expect Alex Smith to get hit, a lot. I’m a bears fan I suffered through him for years. To put it in perspective. Our 7th rd draft pick from last year was able to take his roster spot before he even started a game.

  18. ClaHGH Matthews says: May 19, 2014 10:46 AM

As long as he never has to start, and is just depth or a camp competition body, he’s fine. KC just needs to hope they never need him for more than a play or two a game. at most.

Jay Cutler’s telephone call to Alex Smith, “Whoa, wow, sorry man, I feel for you bro”

  20. 1rockyracoon says: May 19, 2014 10:59 AM

    That’s a J’questionable signing by the J’Chiefs.

  21. willycents says: May 19, 2014 10:59 AM

Poor Alex Smith, I got past this dude three times a game………….and I was sitting on my couch.

  22. tbjenkins says: May 19, 2014 11:10 AM

You guys do realize he likely won’t see the field unless we have multiple injuries right? This was a pick up for depth, nothing more.

  23. smashadams1 says: May 19, 2014 11:56 AM

Why the hell is everyone assuming he will start? I will be surprised if he makes the final roster.

Lol @ people thinking he’s going to start.

Even if he’s depth that means he will play at some point. Even still, it’s not a good sign for Alex Smith. Whether it’s in practice or gameday.

  25. theytukrjobs says: May 19, 2014 1:12 PM

KC probably has the best barbecue out of all the teams he visited. Carolina’s is just too vinegar-y. Minnesota’s is too “dump a gallon of Cookie’s in a crock pot and cook the hell out of it”-y.

He made a good decision in that regard. As a Vikings fan I can say I’m relieved. Webb might be as good of a backup as the next guy but I just don’t want to ever see him trotting up to a pancaked QB helping pull the guy he was supposed to block off of him.

  26. dynastyfootballforme says: May 19, 2014 1:13 PM

Although Webb is still relatively young with experience under his belt, I am shocked that even one team is interested in this perpetual turnstile. Ugh!

  27. 1harrypairatesties says: May 19, 2014 1:13 PM

Sorry K.C. fans, he’s your problem now. Duck Alex! Duck & Move!

  28. wheezerswin says: May 19, 2014 1:34 PM

Pretty sad when the Vikings can’t even get the worst o-lineman in the league. Nobody wants to wear Easter egg uni’s.

  29. whatjusthapped says: May 19, 2014 3:18 PM

We will miss the Human Turnstile in his Purple uniform because whenever he was in the game, you just knew a sack was coming up. Frankly, I’m shocked that he could even get a NFL contract, usually, if you can’t cut it with the Vikings, your next stop is Canada or retirement.

Lol @ people thinking he’s going to start.
We’re just laughing at the thought of him having to start. If Webb sees the field Smith is going to be running around like Johnny Football.

  31. bassplucker says: May 19, 2014 7:27 PM

So the Chiefs are going to dedicate a roster spot to a 3rd OT who will play a few running plays a game out of jumbo formations? Because that is literally all this stiff is good for. As a pass protector he’s as worthless as they come.

  32. joetoronto says: May 20, 2014 5:24 AM

He sucks and fits in perfectly with the hapless house of cards, the Chiefs.
