Raiders sign three seventh-round picks

The Raiders began their draft pick signings last week by reaching a deal with first-round selection Khalil Mack.

Now, the club has started to get other members of its eight-pick draft class under contract.

Via its Twitter feed, the team announced deals with seventh-round selections T.J. Carrie, Jonathan Dowling and Shelby Harris on Tuesday.

A cornerback from Ohio, the 6-foot, 204-pound Carrie intercepted nine passes in his collegiate career. An accomplished punt returner, Carrie’s best shot to stick could be as a reserve on defense and as a special teams contributor.

Harris (6-2, 288) is a defensive end who played for Illinois State and Wisconsin. He was dismissed from Illinois State’s team in 2013. He recorded 14 total sacks in three total seasons with the Redbirds (2010-2012).

A safety who finished his collegiate career with Western Kentucky, Dowling (6-3, 190) intercepted nine passes in two seasons with the Hilltoppers. He began his career at Florida but was reportedly dismissed from the club.

Quarterback Derek Carr (Round Two), guard Gabe Jackson (Round Three), defensive tackle Justin Ellis (Round Four) and cornerback Keith McGill (Round Four) are the other members of the Raiders’ 2014 draft class.

TJ Carrie might be good one day but Raiders are deep are corner with Tarell Brown(the steal of free agency for 3 mill), Carlos Rogers and DJ Hayden. They got Taiwan Jones there too. They drafted McGill too but i think Carrie will be better than him in the long run. Theres Lots to be optimistic about if ur a Raiders fans

Funny, with the rookie salary scale, the Raiders signed the 7th rounders when they got around to it. Used to be those latter-round guys would sign first, and gratefully so.

This team is one of the most transformed teams in the NFL. The AFC West will be won or lost in Oakland.

Goodell hates the Raiders that is why the Raiders are the last team to not to have a decent stadium.

I think Dowling will make the team….I like his toughness as a safety…he likes to put a hit on you.

Funny, I scrolled through the comments in a couple of the Chargers posts, and what do you know, like a typical Chargers fan, not 1 post from Dumbolt.. I spent enough time living in SD to realize they get to play their Super Bowl twice a year. As long as they were beating the Raiders, who cares if they win a Super Bowl.. Now that it has been a few years since the swept the Raiders, what do Chargers fans have to look forward to? And the comment about Goodell hating the Raiders is dumb. SD plays in a turd stadium too. The hippies that live in that state struggle with understanding the financial benefits of building new stadiums. Attracting Super Bowls, Sell Out crowds, bigger bowl games, etc makes no sense to those idiots. I had to leave that state to get away from all the BS. It is a shame the Raiders and Chargers don’t play in the stadiums they deserve. Two original AFL teams with their history do not deserve to play in O.Co and Qualcomm stadiums.

Unlike Chokers fans, Raiders fans are ALWAYS thinking Superbowl. Anything less and you’re…well, Chokers fans.

Pete Rozelle may he rest in peace and Paul Taglibue both also hated the Raiders …its not just Godell and if Godell hates the Raiders he must hate the 49ers also because he wants the 49ers to share there stadium with the Raiders..Rozell hated Raiders and that was for one reason and one reason only and Im pretty sure you know why.and that same reason carrys today for the same reason but its ok Raider Nation will bounce back and shock the NFL going deep into playoffs this season …RAIDER NATION
