Tuesday was not the best day for Saints owner Tom Benson.

New Orleans’ bid for Super Bowl LII fell short as the owners opted to put the game in the Vikings’ new stadium and he wound up taking a trip to the hospital. Benson, who was using a walker after recent knee surgery, fell while leaving the podium after his presentation.

“He is doing fine,’' Saints public relations director Greg Bensel told USA Today. “He accidentally tripped coming off the podium, hit his head and is going to get cleared for a concussion before flying home.”

The final verdict on Benson’s day is still pending. The Pelicans, the NBA team he owns, are in the NBA draft lottery and could wind up with one of the top three selections in a draft rich with talent. If they don’t wind up in the top three, the pick goes to the Philadelphia 76ers and Benson will certainly be happy to see the day come to an end.
