Criminal charges against Henry Melton dropped

All criminal charges against Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton have been dropped, after he was initially accused of biting a bar owner in the kidney in 2013.

According to the Associated Press, Tarrant County prosecutors on Wednesday announced the misdemeanor case against Melton had been dismissed at the request of the bar owner.

The civil claim had been previously settled, but prosecutors said neither side paid any damages. Melton was arrested last December in Grapevine, Tex., on misdemeanor assault and public intoxication, after an incident outside a bar.

The former Bears franchise player signed a cut-rate deal with the Cowboys this offseason, which makes it a good thing he’s not paying off a civil claim.

The Former Bears Franchise player signed a “cut-rate” deal….His deal will pay him around 5 million dollars for one year for playing a game….I sure wish I could find me a “cut-rate” deal like that.

Poor Henry, I don’t think there could be a worse place to be then In Dallas with an owner suffering from Dementia…..at least your family is there, take care Henry, always enjoyed watching you on the Bears.

HenMel had a couple good years with the Bears but you have to realize, this guy came out of college as a 265-lb RB. The absolute most weight he can carry is about 285 lbs and if he lost any quickness at all with his injury, he will be a liablity especially against the run. I hope it works out for him in Dallas but as a Bears fan, I have to say I was very hesitant at the prospects of keeping an undersized injured DT around for big money (see also, Tommie Harris), and I’m glad Chicago decided it was time to move on.
