The Cardinals have Carson Palmer back for another season as their quarterback, but they looked ahead to the future during the draft and selected Logan Thomas in the fourth round to give them an option for the future.

On Wednesday, they announced that Thomas has agreed to his four-year rookie contract with the team. The Cardinals also announced that sixth-round wide receiver Walter Powell has signed, leaving only first-round safety Deone Bucannon unsigned with rookie minicamp starting on Friday.

Thomas threw for 53 touchdowns and 39 interceptions during his time at Virginia Tech, which makes for a fairly good representation of his overall accuracy issues. The 6-6 Thomas said he’s already worked to correct some of the problems and rejects the notion that he’s a project.

“I think I’m a lot more ready than people think,” Thomas said, via ESPN.com. “I think people labeled me as a project simply off stats, which I can understand what they see, what they think.”

Powell is Murray State’s career leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, but may have a hard time finding playing time in a receiving corps that includes Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, Ted Ginn and third-round pick John Brown.
