The Eagles have signed five of their seven draft picks.

Safety Ed Reynolds is the latest member of the draft class to agree to a contract. The fifth-rounder signed a four-year deal with the team, leaving first-round linebacker Marcus Smith and second-round wide receiver Jordan Matthews as the only unsigned draftees.

Reynolds was well known to coach Chip Kelly after a career at Stanford that included a spot on the All-Pac 12 first team each of the last two seasons. After Reynolds was picked, Kelly said that Reynolds’ experience on the Stanford defense set him up well for an NFL career.

“He did it all for them,” Kelly said. “That’s another thing. Sometimes it’s tough when you’re evaluating some guys on film, because you see their athletic ability, but you’re not sure how it’s going to translate when you see people that run similar schemes to what are run at this level and what Stanford does it helps in your evaluation because you’re not guessing or projecting. You say, here’s evidence that he’s done it.”

Reynolds, the son of the former NFL linebacker with the same name, will join a safety group that also added Malcolm Jenkins as a free agent this offseason.
