Cowboys sign fifth-rounder Devin Street

Devin Street, KeiVarae Russell AP

The Cowboys started the process of signing draft picks by getting all five of their seventh-round picks under contract.

They’ve now moved on to the fifth round. Agent Andy Simms announced on Twitter that his client Devin Street has agreed to a four-year deal with the Cowboys.

Street was selected with the 146th pick earlier this month and the leading pass-catcher in University of Pittsburgh history will join a depth chart that’s fairly unsettled once you get past Dez Bryant and Terrence Williams. Dwayne Harris and Cole Beasley are the only other receivers with much┬áNFL experience, which should offer Street plenty of opportunities to get playing time as a rookie.

With Street and the seventh-rounders signed, the Cowboys have three picks, including first-rounder Zack Martin, left to sign.

Watched this kid play a lot of high school football as an Eagle fan I wasn’t happy to see him go to the Cowboys there is no doubt he will start on the outside with Bryant. He is better than Miles Austin on his best day, before he takes an N.F.L. snap. Cowboy fans don’t deserve this kid.

If you think he instantly beats out Terrence Williams, you are confused.

You are correct…….Terrence Williams is a stud, and this kid sounds like at least an immediate slot player.

Excellent addition to the receiving corps. I can’t wait to see him line up with Dez, Jason, and Terrance.

Tall, catches the ball with his hands and not his body. Good fundamentals and effective route runner. May not start day one but I look for him to work into the offense as the season progresses.

I am biased because Devin’s father was one of my best friends growing up. But if you are a Cowboys fan, and you care anything about character, then you have hit the jackpot with Devin.

The Cowboys Offense is SICK… and he just adds another problem for Defenses that want to try to double and triple Dez. The league and Cowboys haters will be in for a rude awakening this year if Marenelli can get that Defense playing like an NFL D, and that’s really not too crazy of a notion if they can stay healthy.

GM/Coach, What would it hurt???? Take a look at Vince Young…..
There are a lot worse QBs on NFL rosters that has never had the success Vince Young has had …(NFL Rookie of the Year, 2 Pro Bowls, Playoff experience and Mobility). Vince has a career winning record of 31-19…
I hope he gets another chance even if it’s third string…
