Packers will test Finley’s neck on Wednesday

Finley

The Packers haven’t closed the door on another season with tight end Jermichael Finley.

According to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Packers doctors will subject Finley to medical testing on Wednesday. Finley continues to recover from neck surgery conducted following a spinal cord contusion that he suffered last season.

Finley wants to play, but he has yet to receive clearance from his doctors. Even if/when he receives clearance from his doctors, Finley will need to be cleared by the doctors employed by the team that wants to sign him.

The Seahawks brought Finley in for a visit in March; they presumably have ongoing interest if/when he’s cleared to play.

Finley was optimistic in late January that clearance would be coming soon. While it hasn’t come yet, he still has plenty of time before the 2014 regular season begins.
