The Vikings held a minicamp earlier this offseason and left tackle Matt Kalil didn’t take part because of an undisclosed injury.

All Kalil would reveal was that he got something “cleaned up.” His shoulder, which troubled him last season, was considered a possible target of that cleanup, but Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that it was actually minor knee surgery that kept Kalil off the field at minicamp.

He’s still not 100 percent four or five weeks after the surgery, but Kalil has progressed to limited participation at OTAs. He’s expected to be fully recovered from the procedure in time for training camp and Kevin Murphy has been filling in for him during team drills.

Kalil, the fourth overall pick of the 2012 draft, has started every game over the last two seasons for Minnesota and will be trying to bounce back from a 2013 performance that was a bit down from the standard of his rookie year. Being healthy should help on that front.
