Jeromey Clary out after shoulder, hip surgeries

The Chargers selected guard Chris Watt in the third round of last month’s draft and he could get an extended look at right guard this spring.

Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports that Jeromey Clary, who started 15 regular season games at the position for the team last season, is being held out of OTAs as he recovers from a pair of surgeries. He had an operation on his shoulder after missing the team’s playoff contests with that injury and he also had hip surgery.

There’s no specific timetable for Clary’s return to action at this point, which could mean that he’ll be on the sideline until training camp. Johnnie Troutman worked with the first team during last week’s work with Watt on the second team, but the Chargers may look at other alignments while waiting for Clary to heal.

Clary is set to make $4.55 million this season in the final year of his deal, so there’s a possibility that the Chargers could wind up moving into the season without him if they feel confident about their other options.

Clary still being on this team and making that kinda money just further proves how bad our o line was and is. Rivers never sucked he just had no time.

Jeromey, thanks for your time and effort on our team, but I think it’s best for both of us if we part ways and move on from one another. We will give you an exceptional recommendation to anyone who calls to ask about you.
