Report: Patriots hosted Jermichael Finley last Friday

Tight end Jermichael Finley got some good news last week when the surgeon who performed his neck surgery gave him clearance to return to football.

That clearance is a good sign for his chances of returning to the field, but he still needs to get cleared by individual team doctors before he’ll be signed to a contract. His agent Blake Baratz told us on PFT Live that Finley had a meeting set up with a team on Friday, but didn’t reveal the team at their request.

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that it was with the Patriots. There’s no further word on how the meeting went or what New England’s doctors might have thought about Finley’s condition.

Mike Florio speculated at the time that the team might be the Patriots, given both their preference for limiting information about their personnel intentions and space on their roster for a skilled pass catching tight end before and after Rob Gronkowski’s return from a torn ACL. PFT reported over the weekend that the Seahawks are out of the hunt for Finley while the Packers have expressed some interest in bringing him back as long as all checks out medically.

Jermichael don’t ruin your career by signing with the Pats. Tom Brady is awful and in decline #retirealready

This comes as a surprise to no one.

The packers to the patriots….he must love playing for classless franchises with know-nothing fans.

Hope the Packers sign him for one year that way Lyerla and our other TEs get one year pro experience before stepping on the field next year. The Patriots would be a good also if he signs with another team, keeps out of the conference even though we play them this year.

I doubt he’ll be back in GB.

He wants a big payday….and he probably won’t get it New England – great franchise, but they are smart with their money….just like Green Bay is.

Wow, a healthy Jermichael Finley would fit in perfectly next to Gronk, giving them a proven solid second option at the TE spot. Hopefully they can make this happen and improve the whole dynamic of the offense

    Another questionable tight end ?

One thing that is more pathetic than an “I told you so comment” . . . that’s “my boss told you so” which combines a suck up with a pat on one’s own back.

I hope Finley is ok & can play football again even if it’s not for the Pats…(but I hope he does)…That was a nasty injury & I think it’s great if he makes a full recovery!!

He is one good hit from a wheel chair. Give it up Findley, take a pay out. Open a bar in Green Bay and be idolized. Hey they maybe will name an alley after you.

Why do the Patriots love TE’s made of Glass?

  15. bradyisyourdaddy says: Jun 2, 2014 8:51 PM

Id love to see him with a flying elvis on his helmet. That would really change the offense and lighten our DESPERATE NEED to obtain Andre Johnson

If Finley is indeed healthy and the Pats have a healthy Gronk on the other end…

    My oh my!

Would not be surprised if some other team in the AFC jumps into the fray just to keep Finley from the Pats.

    Brady. Gronk. Finley.
    My oh my!

He’d make a good addition to the Pats.

How do they still have money?

  19. lanman11 says: Jun 2, 2014 11:11 PM

If I am Finley, I’m thinking a one year deal catching passes from Brady is what I want. The offense is designed for TE’s to excel, and Brady will get him the ball. Not that Rodgers won’t, but TE’s are stars in the NE offense.

I wish Jermichael well. I’d love to see him back in Green Bay, but that looks like it might not be in the cards.

i don’t understand the obession (especially with giant fans) with finley. he’s been injury prone and nearly paralyzed, why would any team want that at the moment?

  23. phamilyman91 says: Jun 3, 2014 12:55 PM
