The Bengals have added offensive line depth with local connections.

The club announced the signing of veteran offensive tackle Chandler Burden, who played high school football in Cincinnati, on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Burden spent part of the 2013 regular season on the Chiefs’ practice squad. Kansas City waived him in May. Burden also spent time with the Dolphins leading up to the 2013 regular season before being waived in August.

The 24-year-old Burden joins the Bengals as they go through their final week of organized team activities. Their mandatory minicamp is next week, giving Burden some time before the summer break to show his capabilities as he vies for a reserve role.

He also played college ball at the University of Kentucky, so Bengal scouts are well aware of him.

    Congrats, Chandler, and good luck!

Hope he’s good at tackling cornerbacks-turned-ballcarriers. He’ll be needed to do that often.
