Cardinals sign Ernie Sims to add linebacker depth

The Cardinals might not be talking about Daryl Washington any longer, but they’re making moves because of him.

According to Darren Urban of the team’s official website, the Cardinals signed linebacker Ernie Sims.

Sims adds some depth at inside linebacker, where the Cardinals were using Kevin Minter and Larry Foote after Washington’s year-long suspension for a third violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

It’s far from the pairing of Washington and Karlos Dansby which helped make the Cards one of the league’s best defenses last year, but only part of that was within teir control.

While the former Lions, Eagles, Colts and Cowboys linebacker might not add the biggest impact, he’s at least a guy with a resume and some versatility.

This team has 6-10 written all over them.

Ernie Sims was put on this earth to play LB……Not sure what he has left, but i’d be hopeful if i was a Cardinal fan.

Larry Foote better change his name to Bert. Would be so awesome if they had Bert & Ernie on the field lining up next to each other at ILB.

Man I was so excited for Cards football this season.
I thought that they could’ve won at least 12 games.
Now that we lost D-wash I’m no longer excited ;I am nervous.
I bet they regret letting Dansby slip away.
We’d be lucky to win 9 this season.

Keep this in mind – and I already know the haters are out there no matter what.

    1. Who thought Dansby would play like he did last year? He sure didn’t in Miami and no guarantee he will in CLE. Bowles’ scheme means a lot to this defense.

    2. The D-line and DBs helped the linebackers play better last year, If anything, those positions are upgraded.

    3. The offense won’t take 8 or 9 games to figure out what they’re doing. They will hit the ground running in September.

    Just sayin’

I can’t believe Sims is still in the league. As an FSU fan, I love that he’s still holding it down, but his terribleness proceeds him, lol. Not only was he part of the 0-16 Lions team, but he was also the starter for 6 games on the Cowboys defense last year, which was the worst in franchise history, lol. How is he doing it?

I have to give Arians credit. He didn’t even wait around for the Steelers to do their latest cuts after camp to do some dumpster diving. Nice one, Bruce. You’re on the cutting edge.

    Great! Marshawn will destroy him!

Journeyman and camp body only. Expectations should be kept low. Make that very low.

Sorry, Ernie Simms is done! When Dallas scooped him off the street 2 years ago, he played pretty good and with heart, but last season, when they needed him, he disappeared.

Why didn’t they just bring back Paris Lenon!?!?

PL would have been a better signing!
