Police say Marcell Dareus was street racing before crash, arrest

Bills coach Doug Marrone is expected to address defensive end Marcell Dareus‘ arrest when he meets the media on Tuesday afternoon and reporters will be armed with copies of the police report when they meet the coach.

The Hamburg (N.Y.) Police released the report, via Mike Rodak of, of Dareus arrest on Tuesday. It reveals that he faces misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment, reckless driving and participating in an illegal speed contest after being arrested on May 30th. Police received a call that two vehicles were racing that afternoon and an officer dispatched to investigate found Dareus’ white Jaguar on the side of the road.

Witnesses said that Dareus’ car had left the roadway while traveling at a high rate of speed and crashed into a tree near the Mongolian Buffet restaurant. The crash damaged both the car and the tree and the driver of the other car has thus far eluded law enforcement. Dareus was arrested and released with an appearance ticket and a summons, which he answered at a hearing on Monday.

Dareus, who was arrested earlier this offseason for possession of synthetic marijuana, is due back in court on June 17.

Football players get in far more trouble than any professional athletes but as long as he is on the field on Sunday, all is forgiven! Sad

350 lbs of stupid. He could have killed someone. Clowns like this should get a mandatory minimum 4-game suspension and face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

I live about 5 minutes from that intersection, which has dense traffic since it is between a large mall, a Home Depot and a Toy R Us. Anyone who would drag race on McKinley Parkway or Milestrip Rd is both stupid and homicidal.

Mr. Whaley the agent for Kevin Williams is on line #1 … he hears there may be a slot opening at DT.

Even as a Bills fan I think it may be time to move on from Marcell! He needs a wakeup call and maybe a new team …

U could have been killed hitting that tree, Marcell. Or killed someone else. What the heck were you thinking??

  21. thevikingdefender says: Jun 3, 2014 11:50 AM

Why are so many rich football players smoking synthetic marijuana!?! It must be that synthetic doesn’t pop up on drug tests? But still synthetic is for people that can’t afford real marijuana or don’t really know where to get real marijuana. Im just thinking that nfl athletes would be smoking the real good stuff that doesn’t mess you up!

  22. theflyingelvis says: Jun 3, 2014 12:06 PM

What a genius. At the rate he’s going he’d might as well douse his money in gasoline and light a match. Millions and millions of dollars on the line and he’s acting like a 16 year old. Grow up, moron.

  23. gf2711 says: Jun 3, 2014 12:10 PM

That’s a very busy intersection. Lucky to only damage the car and some property.

Man up and stay down Marcell.

  24. norseyapper says: Jun 3, 2014 12:12 PM

Wait a minute, he was street racing in a Jaguar?
No doubt about it, the dude really is stupid.

  25. azarkhan says: Jun 3, 2014 12:13 PM

    OMG! Horrible!

  26. bassplucker says: Jun 3, 2014 12:27 PM

Somebody needs to pull this lugnut aside and tell him the story of Jerome Brown. Although, I doubt it would make any difference.

  27. grantsbuds says: Jun 3, 2014 12:31 PM

Great story. Keep up the good work!

  28. bigblu73 says: Jun 3, 2014 12:35 PM

Some of the folks on here slay me. So he’s more stupid if he gets caught with synthetic weed than real weed? Well obviously he likes to smoke and rather than risk a drug suspension he chose to smoke a synthetic “herb”. Really shouldn’t be anybody’s business, I guess in Alabama they will charge you for fake weed!Lol Thats like getting a DUI for drinking too much O’Douls!

Now the racing is just juvenile, asinine, and dangerous. I don’t think he should lose his job or be punished at his job for this behavior however.

  29. kitnamania13 says: Jun 3, 2014 12:38 PM

Smart move by Dareus. By making sure the Bills won’t pick up his fifth year, he gets to free agency one year earlier.

  30. ialwayswantedtobeabanker says: Jun 3, 2014 12:51 PM

This guy has a tiny window of time to set himself and his family up for life — and he’s pissing it away with absolute idiocy. Wow.

  31. thegreatgabbert says: Jun 3, 2014 1:01 PM

Actually Marcell wasn’t speeding, he was just rubbernecking the “Buffet” sign, got distracted, and lost control.

  32. bradygirl12 says: Jun 3, 2014 1:17 PM

  35. rbae11 says: Jun 3, 2014 2:13 PM

Lol what an idiot…I mean if i was that rich, i’d probably take my car to the track…you have be a complete idiot to be drag racing during rush hour, lol and then crash the damn car…INTO A TREE…near an asian buffet! very embarrassing to himself and the bill’s organization.

  36. kingpel says: Jun 3, 2014 2:15 PM

What a dummy. Thank God no one was killed.

  37. davikes says: Jun 3, 2014 2:22 PM

  38. chucklewis13 says: Jun 3, 2014 2:42 PM

It has been said time and time again that “you cannot legislate stupidty. ” Marcell Dareus is a perfect example of that.

I think we all realize by now that, other than the ones who play quarterback, football players are not very smart people. I think we should pump the brakes on idolizing some of these fools.

Watching a guys career in the NFL dissolve in just about a week.

  44. misteranderson41 says: Jun 3, 2014 4:46 PM

“…crashed into a tree near the Mongolian Buffet restaurant” you sure he was racing and not just hungry?

  45. noladat says: Jun 3, 2014 4:56 PM

First idiot don’t drag race a jaguar. That is stupid who cares if you jag is Sorta quick. Take yourself and buy a car built for that purpose and go to the track. Heck if middle class people can afford to do that you can too. Oh you might run into people with fast cars that can drive.

  46. rg3enoughsaid says: Jun 3, 2014 5:34 PM

Was saddened to hear the tree was also damaged in the wreck…

  47. simonator917 says: Jun 3, 2014 11:34 PM

One year, definitely. I remember when Donte Stallworth killed that unfortunate man on his way home from work. Goodell justifiably said his actions tarnished the shield and reflected very badly on everyone in the NFL. If this idiot hadn’t had the eminently good fortune of crashing into the tree and had instead ploughed into the restaurant the body count could have been enormous!!!!!!!

At the very minimum it should be at least eight games and the state of New York needs to permanently suspend his license. This idiot should never allowed behind the wheel of a car, EVER again.
