The General Manager has spoken, so you can apparently cross Brian Urlacher off the Cowboys’ list.

Asked about the possibility of a deal for the longtime Bears middle linebacker, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones replied with a succinct “No”, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.

The Cowboys are presently looking at a lot of in-house replacements for Sean Lee, who tore his ACL at the beginning of OTAs.

The pool thinned with former Cowboys linebacker Ernie Sims going to Arizona yesterday, so they’re going to look at players such as Justin Durant and youngsters Anthony Hitchens and DeVonte Holloman for now.

“Someone actually tweeted me something about it,” defensive tackle Henry Melton said when asked about his former teammate with the Bears. “I haven’t heard any truth behind [Urlacher playing] it but ‘Lach’ knows the defense and he would be a good replacement, I feel like he would fit in.”

Of course, he would have to want to come back first, which there’s no indication he wants.

Need a linebacker? Let’s just make stuff up. Zero indication from ANYONE that this is even a story but let’s continue to beat it into the ground. Heck, I hear Randy White is still out there…

Urlacher is done. He wanted to retire a Bear. He turned down 2 million from the Bears last year, which was a huge mistake.

Urlacher said NO to Dallas and now Jerry is making it seem like Dallas doesn’t want him.

Jerry Jones must be suffering from a brain disorder. Isn’t the idea to make your team better get all the good players you need to fill the slot??? Oh well the Cowgirls can suck again!!!

This may be the first time I’ve ever thought Jones made a good decision GM wise. Urlacher was done a few seasons ago. His last couple seasons in Chicago were horrible. I think Chicago offered him a small contract last year, just to try and make sure he retired a Bear. Minnesota had probably the worst MLB situation in the NFL last year, and they didn’t want to offer him anything more than what Chicago offered. Even they knew he was pretty much done.

Hilarious !! I wonder how Urlacher and his idiotic supporters will twist this around NOW ??? Urlacher could have retired in a good way , instead he went out a whiner . Maybe he will man up one day

The Cowboys will probably just sign a street free agent mid season and start him that same week.

If Urlacher was in football shape, and the Cowboys offered him decent money to unretire, It might happen. I really think playing for the Cowboys (or anyone else but the Bears) would make his skin crawl. He is THAT kind of guy.
