The Cardinals have reached a deal with their first-round pick.
Strong safety Deone Bucannon, the No. 27 selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, has signed his four-year contract with Arizona, the club said Thursday. He is the last of the Cardinals’ seven draft picks to strike a deal with the club.
Bucannon had a productive and decorated career at Washington State, earning first-team All-American honors from The Associated Press as a senior. In four seasons with the Cougars, the 6-foot-1, 208-pound Bucannon intercepted 15 passes and recorded 384 tackles.
Bucannon looks likely to team with the playmaking Tyrann Mathieu at safety. Mathieu, who showed such promise as a rookie in 2013, is on the mend after a December ACL tear.
