Lacking healthy wide receivers, the Jaguars turned to the waiver wire on Thursday, adding rookie wideout Kevin Smith, with whom Arizona parted ways on Wednesday.

A University of Washington product, Smith hauled in 50 passes for 765 yards and four touchdowns in 2013.

According to the Jaguars’ website, the club had just four wide receivers available on Thursday, with Cecil Shorts, Ace Sanders, Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson, Mike Brown and Tandon Doss all sitting out.

The Jaguars’ resume OTAs next week, and their mandatory minicamp is in two weeks. For a wide receiver looking to latch on with an NFL club, Smith appears to have landed in a good spot, at least in the short term.

In a corresponding roster move, the Jaguars waived rookie long-snapper Trevor Gillette.
